Mind blowing

This is a must for anyone visiting Leon - the ceilings in the are Pantheon are so well preserved - you will not see anything like it elsewhere.

The cathedral is nice, but nearby is this basilica worth visiting as a key step in the Camino de Santiago. Its best parts by far are the excellent medieval frescoes where besides animals and the usual pictorial of the gospels there are representations of daily life in the form of the 12 months of the year. Oh, the colors! They are... More

You just cannot go by Leon and not visit the Royal Pantheon. I would make sense to see it before heading off to the later, Gothic cathedral, to see the style changes. The frescoed ceiling on the Royal Pantheon is so full of colour and animated figures, the carved capitals are stunningly creative, and the church itself, above, is a great... More

It is a good idea to visit this museum before you visit the Cathedral. The guides will explain the frescoes then you are free to visit the cloisters, and the library and museum upstairs. The displays are excellent.

I'm an artist, and after reading several reviews here, I decided to write about the Pantheon Real. I came into Leon as a pilgrim, tired and footsore with a plan to spend a day taking in the main sites of the city, drawing and finding a new paint brush to replace the one I'd lost in Burgos. I had limited... More

Both sites are worth a stop, but I do not see either or both as the highlight of Leon. The restoration of the Pantheon is especially well done.

very nice basilica built in roman/early gothic style, which must be seen once you are in Leon. It is very central in the city and such as a great competitor to the Leon's cathedral.

Nice place, at night we were passing by and arrived just in time to see an amazing show projecting images onto the building, with music, telling the story of the history of Leon. Very nice to see and free. Highly recommend seeing the show starts at 11:00pm and again at 11:30 lasts about 20 minutes or so.

The basilica as others have said is beautiful. I attended a mass there which was focused on the pilgrims of the Camino. But the Pantheon was breathtaking in its representations of the life of Christ and the paintings are so well preserved due to the climate in Leon. A must see!

The church is super but the crypt-museum is even better. The paintings and the history with so many royals buried in elaborate tombs. Spectacular!
