Having queued for the Alcazar for 20 minutes, we found the museum part closed. Apparently, there was a minor fire recently, and the closure was not particularly evident on the museum website. The ancient foundations can still be seen, but if you are travelling from Madrid as we were, it not worth going out of your way at the moment.

The museum is a fantastic place to visit, but best to double check it is open before travelling there

We loved our visit!! Our hotel was next door so we stopped in & wish we would have had more time. They have restored it to house a Spanish military museum and done a beautiful job of it! We learned a lot about Spanish history.

Note: the gift shop only takes cash. After using our credit card everywhere else, that was a surprise.

To really look at it all, figure on 2-3 hours. When we visited they were letting visitors in for free

It is located in the highest part of the city of Toledo. Certainly one of the buildings that makes Toledo a great attraction. Impressive building which houses a library and a military museum that can be visited. A beautiful museum for lovers of military history. Very beautiful central courtyard with a statue in the center, great stairs. The courtyard leads to the Alcazar terrace, which offers a beautiful view of the city.

Whilst walking around Toledo we discovered Alcazar de Toledo which is a stone fortification. Its location commands great views of the area and well worth visiting.

It is currently the site of the city's Army Museum and theconstruction dates to the Roman times.

This building was rebuilt between 1939 and 1957 after the siege of the Alcázar during the Spanish Civil War.

It is imposing and can be seen from anywhere in the city, but it doesn't go far. It was probably because an area was closed for construction, but it was very difficult to find your way. We tried to go from the museum to the interior patio and it was impossible. Round and round. We went up through an area and ended up in a library. We were lost. We left without seeing the patio, tired of walking around. It hadn't been recommended to us, but we went on our last day, partly because admission was free. The visit begins at the Army Museum, which is quite good for anyone interested in the subject.

It is a building with a lot of history from times past, although unlike the one in Segovia, it has undergone a lot of evolution and the original building is almost indistinguishable. -Its facades and towers stand out, as well as the interior patio. It has been converted into the Army museum for more than a decade, transferred from Madrid. It houses a wide collection of weapons from many centuries ago to the present day.

Its last great evocation was in the Spanish civil war, when it was attempted to be conquered by Franco's army.

I already visited it when I went to school a few decades ago and when the museum was inaugurated. This time I only admired it from the outside, but in itself, it is a symbol of Toledo.

Fortification located in the upper part of the city, it is the work of the architect Covarrubias.
It houses the army museum inside.
A must-see, both inside and outside, where there are spectacular views.
It had several floors closed for rehabilitation.

This wonderful building that is a witness to the history of Toledo is under construction again, for that reason they have not charged us to enter...
It is under construction and you can barely see some rooms..
The historic rooms have already been covered up with the other renovation and possibly now they intend to put an end to everything...
Because the happy law of memory is selective memory and certain parts of history try to erase them.....
The building is wonderful and at night well lit, it looks impressive....

I read the other reviews calling this place an overpriced tourist trap, and decided to stick with just a snack. Even the snacks are overpriced garbage! We ordered a Queso Manchego thinking it would be melted or at least come with bread. Instead, it was just a plate of dry sliced cheese. For €16! Don't make the mistake we did, and avoid this place! If you're hungry and nothing else is open, starve instead!

No information that almost everything is closed. 200 km trip, plus the return trip to see 15%. “And we don’t know when it will open.” It seems that this monument is not interested in being visitable. Not even the army museum. Coincidences.
