This public Park on the promenade of Santander is located on the territory reclaimed from the sea. This motif of labor, struggle with the sea was one of the leading ones in the work of the writer José María de Pereda, whose monument is the dominant feature of the Park. The sculptor Lorenzo Coullaut Valera depicted scenes from his works on bas-reliefs around the statue of the writer. They will say something to the Spaniards, but foreign tourists do not know the content of the writer's works. But the most important thing in the Park is its biodiversity. Pines, palms, chestnuts, cedars, Apple trees, Linden trees, boxwood trees are represented among 200 trees.

Beautiful waterfront urban park with lots of greenery and benches. I was a little disappointed that the one pond was basically just green standing water with no vegetation or fish. Many different sort of sculptures including a Joan Miro. Great for relaxing and people watching.
