The beach is truly magnificent - extensive and golden with the vista out to sea spectacular.

Boat trips were not readily available in May. Perhaps they are more frequent in later summer months.

A must to go beach if you are staying in Santander for a couple of days. You may take the boat service from Santander. It is wild beach where you can take long and nice walks. Try the local restaurant on the beach (the one with the green pier). Great fresh fish with excellent service.

Best beach on entire north coast of Spain. Good for kitesurfing, surfing, sunbathing, beach walks. Have lunch, coffee at the surf cafe at the surf centre. Try the tortilla with chorizo. They also do great coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. The whole beach is 4 km so no matter how crowded you can walk to find your own spot... More

If you're staying in Santander, take a trip across to Somo just to visit the beach - we went on an amazing sunny day and pretty much had the whole beach to ourselves. Great place just to relax and look out across the bay, even went for a swim!

This is one of the most beautiful beaches in Spain…you have views of the Palace, two light houses, the City of Santander, several islands and lots of large and small boats coming and going. A great beach to "surf" and "kit sail"….the water warms us in June to September and the waves are changing all the time. Beautiful colors in... More

Take the wee boat from the Palacete del Embarcadero just across from the Bank of Santander arch and the tourist information office. It only costs a few euros for a return ticket. Stay on until the end. There isn't much in Puntal. But from the ferry slipway you can either walk the bay side or the better Bay of Biscay... More

Beautiful beach. Easy to walk. Can take buses back to city centre or any where along the beach. There are some resturants along the beach but did'nt try them.

Sun sea and surf. Great waves, great sand. Great! Away from the city on the other side of the bay. Rollers come straight in from the atlantic. Beautiful.
