The best beach in Santander. It’s really quaint little alcove beach. Worth the many steps down. The water is shallow, clear and soft sandy bottoms. We got the bus linea 1 or 2 from city centre. Short walk from the last stop. You also pass by this beach on your way to Cabo mayor. There was a bit of a queue today around 12 noon but wait wasn’t too long. They have an electric sign to say how busy the beach is.

You can either walk around and enjoy the view above or go to the beach during summer season.
Crystal clear water, perfect sand and amazing location.

This certainly is one of the most beautiful place which have ever been, the beauty of this beach is unbelievable. The water is completely clean and also the sand, there is no too many people (at least when I was there), it is really peaceful and serene beach.

This is one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. It is not nearly as crowded as nearby Sardinero beach. There is a small walk to reach the beach but well worth it!

Lovely beach. Clean sands and waters. Less touristy than el sardinero. Being in a small bay, it felt snug. At the top of the stairs is an ice cream van.

This small, paradisiacal cove is located just before the Santander Lighthouse. To access the beach, you must first go down numerous steps, but before you do so, make sure you stop at one of the lookouts and admire the stunning view. You will see a mixture of cliffs, surrounding parks, the Bay of Biscay and the beach, which is completely disconnected from the hustle and bustle of the city. This is the perfect, peaceful place to relax and get away from the city. The entrance to the beach is often filled with canoeists, and these types of canoe are unique to Santander. As you will see, it is a very popular pastime and we recommend that you try it for yourself. If you plan on visiting Mataleñas, remember to bring food and drinks, so that you don’t have to go up and down the huge flight of steps. Now it’s time to sit back and enjoy the beach.

Most Santander locals deem beaches 1 and 2, or Somos or Bikinis, as the best beaches in Santander. It rather depends on what you want to do or experience at the beach. For me, this is the best beach because of its appearance, recessed as it is within the granite cliffs, and the moderately calm waters. It would be less attractive to surfers, windsurfers and other watersports enthusiasts. However it's isolated and safe and uncrowded enough to be good for swimmers. A good place to stop on the way to the lighthouse.

We were in Santander after docking at the ferry port.
We arrived early so decided to stretch our legs and take in some more sea air!
A wonderful beach, very quiet and with great views!

My favorite beach in Santander. Quiet and away from the city. Definitely worth climbing dozens of stairs for.

The views are stunning and the walk from the park and around the little peninsula which houses the golf course is worth taking.

No, non ci sono servizi, solo all’inizio della scalinata c’è un camioncino bar.
