This peaceful little park is just up the road, app. 500m, from the center of Sardinero, a beautiful suburb of the magnificent city of Santander. It stands on a raised promontory overlooking Sardinero's fantastic tree lined beach and promenade. It is full of beautiful plants, with little arbours, plenty of quiet seating areas with magnificent views of the beach and little wooded islets, across the bay. I wandered up to have a look after unpacking from my ferry journey from Britain, earlier in the day, sat down for a rest, nearly fell asleep, so restful. Later that evening, after dinner, I looked out at the sea and promenade in the fast fading daylight, and something caught my eye, twinkling lights, I wasn't sure what it was. It was intriguing, so I wandered out into the lovely cool evening air, and strolled towards what, I wasn't sure.
It was the pretty little park I had visited earlier in the day, with very tasteful lighting, shimmering through the damp, dew laden trees, so beautiful, it took my breath away. I sauntered up and sat among the scented plants, listening to the waves below, on the beach. A lovely end to a great day, a brilliant mini-cruise journey on the Brittany Ferry, fantastic room at the Sardinero Hotel, gentle stroll in the afternoon, then a lovely surprise to end the day, who could want more?

The park is situated on the hillside next to the Matalenas coastal path.
When we visited in early May the rose garden was in full bloom and the fragrance was amazing!
