Big surprise for modern art lovers. this gallery is in the center of Santa Cruz, just a few steps from the city market and Museum of Natural History. They normally offer several exhibitions of medern art, there is a huge library (open 24/7)...it is great view if you pass by at midnight and the library is still full of people (probably students?). They have also a cinema which shows interesting, arty or just kind of independent movies. And shop full of modern design stuff, books about art, history etc...And cafeteria, of course...The building itself is very interesting, if you like modern architecture. So really great space to visit, especially if you are like me, stranger just tired of Sun and beaches.

I visited TEA twice during my short stay in Santa Cruz, and though I didn't get a chance to see any of the art, I LOVED the library! I'm not a huge fan of modern architecture (I prefer good oldfashioned woody warmth), but I found the library unexpectedly appealing, a really nice, clean, spacious, tranquil spot to take a break in from sightseeing etc. Acces to the library is free, wifi is free, bathrooms on site. What more could a weary tourist ask for?

Went to look at it as both the guidebooks and info from tourist information suggested there were free exhibitions.
However all the exhibitions had to be paid for, and as I have little inclination to pay to see local modern art/photography I passed. However the building is quite interesting, what can be seen from the staircases, and the public conveniences are free.
There is a modern cafe, but entirely internal, and so felt a little claustrophobic.
The building appears to suffer from significant early wear, like the auditorium.

The building that houses the art museum and the library is stunning. The artwork housed on two floors, was very interesting, especially that of Oscar Dominguez, who seemed influenced by Picasso, Miro and Magritte. Very nice gift shop. Check out the WCs: where the ceilings, walls and floors are painted periwinkle blue. Seniors are only 5euros and art educators and students are free. Just a very nice place to spend an afternoon. The exhibition of Amparo Sard was especially striking. Free wifi is a nice benefit too.

WiFi is free and one can sit there undisturbed in air conditioning. This is a downtown building in modern Spanish architecture. It is rather big, there were plenty of seats and sofas to sit and relax. You should switch off your phone's sounds because it is very quiet in there.

Why Santa Cruz Tourist Board doesn't do more to promote this place is beyond us! Try and spot it on the tourist maps/tour routes etc and you'll be hard-pushed. This gallery is superb...both as a structure and as an exhibition centre, even if you're not a fan of Contemporary Art, The Dominguez (3rd only to Picasso and Miro in the Spanish pantheon) and Hodgson displays were breath-takingly good. The staff were both friendly and helpful and enjoyed greeting a 'Hodgson' (my wife...but,sadly, unrelated to the Artist!)

Unexpectedly good modern art gallery. There were four exhibitions while we were there including the surrealist Oscar Dominguez. The 3 course set lunch in the café downstairs is a bargain.

Just an amazing place on so many levels. The library mesmerizing, the exhibitions top notch and lovingly curated. And a special mention for the shop where if you're not careful a beautiful young woman with black-rimmed glasses will speak in beautiful tones and persuade you to buy a souvenir of your visit....

The architecture is very nice and the three exhibitions inside are pretty as well. There's not a lot of context for the art but that's ok. You shouldn't expect a full museum. Normal entree price €7, you can get a discount if you're a student (from any country).

Whilst walking to the town square we came across this modern building and went to find out what it was. Not only does this building house a library but it also has 2 floors with exhibitions. The entry to the exhibitions was €7 which was well worth it. There is also a cafe there which we didn’t try.
