Overview
More
The Museum of Nature and Man has organised a modern museum exhibition project to present the investigation and conservation work conducted over the decades by the Museum of Natural Science and the Archaeological Museum of Tenerife. The result offers an insight into the natural wealth of the Canary Islands on the one hand, and on the other, it is a chance to discover the largest existing collection on the Guanche culture. The Guanches are the aboriginal people that inhabited Tenerife before the arrival of the first European conquerors.

A nice museum but relatively limited and a bit on the boring side with very limited access to English text. Given so much is text based as a limited Spanish speaker it wasn’t as interesting as it could have been.

If you want to learn about botany, geography, human habitation, volcanic activity, birds, insects and about anything else concerning these islands, a visit to this museum is educational and fascinating. In event you need a break, there is a lovely and restful open courtyard so...More

I had been forewarned that the signage was only in Spanish, so was prepared for that. But was pleasantly surprised that there were some videos playing that had English subtitles. Even more surprised that I found them interesting: they were about the volcanic activity that...More

This is a museum of man and nature. The place is quite big, and has quite a few exhibitions - Canarian wildlife, geology and geography of Canarian islands, volcanic formation etc. 🌋 🐦 🌱 But, beware! The museum is mostly in Spanish. Some of the...More

This was ok but honestly everything was in Spanish there was nothing in English, we still had a look around but would have enjoyed it more if we knew what we were looking at.

Expectations were unfortunately too high. Otherwise this is a very informative museum that reveals all aspects of the history (human and natural) of the Canary Islands. Unfortunately, only the first geological part of the museum is equipped with explanations in English, all other are exclusively...More

The entrance fee of 4€ is reasonable considering the size and number of exhibits. They also have a beautiful atrium and a separate exhibit on how the islands were formed volcanically.

This museum is packed full of information and exhibits about volcanoes, geology, the Canaries, wildlife and the Guanches. Unfortunately most of it is in Spanish. I bought the audio guide because I'd read this thinking it would fill in the gaps. It didn't. It just...More

Labeling of the exhibits is only in Spanish, although explanation cards are available in other languages, these do not contain translations as much as summaries. If you can, time your visit for after 4pm on Friday or Saturday, when there is no entrance fee, which...More
