We had been informed this was more a flea market and nearly gave it a miss. It was only a short walk from our hotel and is on a Saturday, so on our last day which was rather windy, we gave it a try. On the rooftop floor we found a craft stall which had the products of an English lady and a local lady. They were beautifully made and reasonably priced. Well worth the visit just to see their stall.

Not really a tourist attraction - more of a facility for the local community and clearly geared for this.

This market is not craft market, rather a flea market selling second hand goods and food. The market is at the front and inside the building over three floors.

OK ... let's begin by saying that this will definitely not be to everyone's taste.
On Wednesday and Saturday it hosts the local flea market (or Trödelmarkt as my German friends would say).
This is largely at the entrance to the main building with some stalls also on the roof.
The main building is a more conventional open core structure with fruit, veg and fish stalls and lots of local snack bars.
However the place really comes alive on Saturday when it is clearly a major focus for the ex pat German community and spanish cuisine is hard pressed to compete with typical German food and beer.
If you speak a little german or are here with german friends, this is really great fun but it is noisy, frenetic and at times reminiscent of a slightly more mature Oktoberfest .... but with more sunshine.
As I said, not to everyone's taste but, if you are in Puerto on a Saturday, it's worth trying for the experience.
By the way, walk or take bus to get here .... parking is impossible here on saturday and wednesday.

Did a quick visit here on a Saturday morning, our first day in Tenerife. Gorgeous day made it a cracking market day. Didn't look much on the walk up but go to the roof terrace and there were loads more stalls there!

Small and local stores offering a good variety of produce. There is a supermarket on the ground floor with the independent stores located upstairs. The best value ecological and locally grown biological store does great honey while another stall stocks a vast array of tea from around the world. Also, there's a butcher and two green grocers. Saturday's host a big boot fair: go upstairs to the roof for the best stuff. Love this shopping mall

The local market stalls inside the main building offer a great variety of food and drink and the cafes are excellent for people watching. However the outside market and that on the roof are really car boot level and you’ll be lucky to find a bargain. Also predominantly German biased.

This is a really nice place to visit if you want to just meander among the old and the new. When the market is the outside its usually packed. We were in Puerto De la Cruz for six weeks and had a brilliant time, very relaxing. The market inside with all the little units is lovely, and there is so many different kinds of food to be bought and there are many coffee places to sit and people watch. Would recommend for a place not to be missed.

Visited here on a Saturday as we were told it was the best day to go but have to say it was somewhat disappointing. We expected a general market with fresh fruit and vegetables etc. and also maybe some tourist fare, instead we got a flea market selling secondhand goods of poor quality. There are stalls outside at the entrance, more indoors and if you venture to the top on the escalators there are more out on the roof. There are also lots of cafes and bars which seemed full of locals which helped a bit to add to the atmosphere.

Hi Gloria, "the Trail" is performed on the outside and top of the Municipal Market. We have ramps and escalators for easy access to all areas. Sincerely.
