Originally I had booked my two boys in for four days to see how they got on in mainly a Spanish surf school. They absolutely loved it and consequently I booked them in for a second week, not only that, but after lessons they would use their pocket money to hire boards and suits for a further two hours! The instructors were absolutely amazing with them both, the owners too, nothing is too much trouble, all of them go out of their way to make it a positive experience from remembering their very English names, to praising and correcting their techniques in English, to free T-shirt, stickers etc. On days where the were no waves they did other activities such as jumping of cliffs etc. Very well organised surf school, extremely friendly staff, welcoming local children. I will definitely use them again. What a fantastic surf school. My boys will remember it for ever.

I have been there several times during my vacations in autumn and spring. The spot is very good for beginners. You have an easy overview and a small bay. The instructors are skilled and make you feel safe. It’s a good place to learn and enjoy surfing.

I was on my career break in Puerto de la Cruz studying Spanish. Although I wanted to learn surfing for many years, after all my attempts to learn surfing during holiday ended in failure in the past, I was very scared of trying it again and getting disappointed. Turned out it was the best lesson I've ever received!!! Instructors were very kind, they did a very thorough and detailed explanation of the beach, current, where to wait for the waves, how to paddle, how to stand up...all in English as well. In the lesson I took, there were a couple from Germany, two university students, one local guy. It was a good mix of people and I had so much fun learning with them!! Paid 35 euros for 2 hours lesson. I think there are discounts if you take more than 1 lessons though! I highly recommend this school to anyone who ever wanted to try surfing.

Theese people think they own the beach and even put up a sign that says: if you disturb the lessons (in their eyes it would be just surfing) you had to pay a fine. I just want to surf, but the school has 8-12 students on this little surfing spot almost the whole day. They also are disorgonised and have no rules for the students so they all just sit in the middle of the spot. I have seen the instructors berate surfers who are just minding their own business. They think they own the beach. please dont give them your money until they get atleast a few braincells

This surf school is clearly not recommended!! On the one hand, the groups are much too large. You wait most of your surf lesson and the surfboards have become scarce, so that as a beginner I got a very light (i.e. it is heavier) board. Similar with the holey wetsuits. You get briefly explained in the dry how to get up and has no support in the water. The team is very busy managing when who's on and sending the person into the wave. They do not manage to pay attention to others who are overwhelmed or even panic. Two girls are out because they panicked. That would be ridiculed. 100% unprofessional!

The big perk of Los Martiánez (Puerto de la Cruz) compared to Playa de las Américas on the West coast of the island is that it definitely less packed, which makes surfing a way more pleasant experience and significantly disminishes the number of bruises at the end of the day. I took a 2-hours surf lesson for 35€ (with a discount for more days). We were only 2 people in the group and thus benefitted from the full attention of Emilio, who proved a dedicated teacher and provided useful advice.

During my stay in Puerto De La Cruz I took 3 week surfing course. That was the best thing I did over there. The atmosphere in the school is amazing and teachers are great! Even though it was over one year ago we still keep in touch. I recommend La Marea to everyone who is looking for a great activity with wonderful people :))

I rented surfing equipments for a few hours. My opinion on the surf school is in between.

The wetsuit was really old and pierced. I suggest they buy new ones.
The surfboard was okay. And you can choose the size of you already have experience.

The staff members are nice, but they sound a bit rude at the beginning (suggest to be a little bit more smiling haha).

The good thing is, if you ask them, they explain to you how the current works. And they seemed to care about their students safety.

N.b if you surf there for the 1st time, be careful with the rocks everywhere under the water.

Thank you very much for your opinion, as for the wetsuits, open been a punctual case, since we try to have them in the best possible conditions, but we rule for it, as for the workers, they always tend to attend with a good attitude, although sometimes it can happen to us. Thanks for the opinion and sorry for the mistakes
