Well... quite a negative experience, there's a sunbed for €3 and an umbrella for €2.50 but they basically put them on at 10am and at 4.30pm they chase you away, crazy stuff, no buts and they make me get up , obviously then choosing to stay on the sand but it is full of stones and rocks, perhaps we are too used to it in Italy, tourism is something else for me given that I work in the sector. in short for me it is rejected as a beach then also the ocean too many waves and the water is immediately deep, it doesn't give you the feeling of relaxation, rather the anxiety of not drowning, I say this because I have already been to other, better beaches in the Atlantic Ocean several times..Adios Puerto de la Cruz!!

Three beaches towards Punta Brava and named after the gardens. The beach nearest punta brava, Playa Maria Jimenez is the best for swimming as it is more protected. Going east towards the castle, El Castillo San Philipe, are Playa Chica and Playa del Castillo but swimming was not allowed at the time of our visit. Toilets are availabel and lifeguards present. The gardens are also worth visiting.

We were on several beaches and coves in Tenerife and this is the one we liked the most.
It is made of volcanic sand and some waves.
Easy to get to, with parking area.
If you go in the afternoon you can see the sunset, observing how the Sun sets behind the silhouette of the Island of La Palma.

A very atmospheric place. Huge ocean waves roll over the long black sand beach. A place of strength, the ocean is charging here. But not a beach vacation. On the 5 days we were vacationing north in Puerto de la Cruz, there was a red flag on the beach with a black circle and the whole beach was fenced with ribbon, so it was impossible to go to the water and walk along the edge. There weren't even sunbeds on the beach. But very beautiful. The waterfront drowns in greenery and flowers. It's much quieter and more peaceful than the city center near the pools. Also be sure to wander in the part of town opposite Loro Park - coloured houses, cute restaurants and mini hotels. For beach holidays it is still better to choose the south of the island. And the north is about travel, exotic plants, walks and the power of the ocean hitting the black rocks.

Sadly another part of Puerto that has been in decline over the last 5 years or so. At present the beaches are close due to human waste contamination. But the council run restaurant at the far end nearer to Punta Brava has closed pretty much since Covid, which is such a shame. This has meant a long walk into Punta Brava or back towards Puerto for refreshments. The area has gone to look shabby and in cared for. Shame, when are the councils in Puerto going to realise that Covid is over and the workers have to go back to work?

Fabulous beach with great facilities. There’s a bar, recycling bins, beach showers, nice clean toilets, showers and changing rooms as well as lifeguards and information boards. It’s an easy walk from Puerto de La Cruz town centre and the massive free car park at Explanada del Muelle. When we visited in January the waves were a little big to swim easily but the sea wasn’t too cold. Would recommend :)

Very pretty black sand beach except that the swimming flag is constantly red. You can only soak up to your knees. Gentlemen beach lifeguards, a red at home corresponds to a yellow flag on our French coasts. Too bad we can't swim...

Unfortunately, we were not impressed by the beach :(
Quite far from our hotel.
It looks nice, but unfortunately, there are a lot of stones that make even entering the water difficult. The current was so strong that I was hit twice by a large stone during the waves, which broke my foot.
The advantage is the bar and toilet nearby. The beach is clean. Cool black sand.
You can use a sun lounger and umbrella for a fee.

Black sand rocky beach with an amazing view of the fierce sea. The waves when we were there were incredible and it was always a red flag though some people paddled.
There are plenty of sun beds and public toilets next to the cafe which were well kept.
The beach further towards Lora Park isn't as rocky and there are beach volleyball courts. All around this area are beautifully landscaped tropical gardens and a nice play area for young kids.
We enjoyed walking here from Puerto de la Cruz each day.

Black sand and can get very warm and you can get burnt really easily so be careful. Plenty of beds to rent and lots of food and drinks available. The beautiful village of Punta Brava with some lovely very reasonable restaurants is lterally a stones throw away. Try Rincon del Mar, you wont be disapointed!
