Largely unspoiled, this part of town has some fine examples of the original Canarian houses. Good choice of restaurants around the small square off Calle Mequinez. There is a great craft shop of the same name and the area plays host to many markets throughout the year

The setting in a traditional Canadian house complements the range of handmade artisan goods this shop has to offer. It may be small however they use the display space well. if you walk from the harbour it will take about ten -fifteen minutes,its an interesting walk,passed the little church,police station,local football stadium,open air swimming pool,passed the little fort down onto the promenade,ithink most of us go there to see the palm trees that are scattered around the black beach which is quite big,there are sun beds on the beach but... Lovely old part still with some of the small fishing village type houses. Striking wall art and good little restaurants. Wanted to see the Tango entertainment offered in a restaurant but they were closed when we returned.

There are some charming little streets around with nice bars and restaurants (do not miss Pizzeria Don Camilo !!) and easy to find: statrs from the little harbour of Puerto de la Cruz.

Some fabulous restaurants in this area, very busy at weekends and booking is adviseable. Reasonably priced quality restaurants
