- Isabelle CFrance66 contributionsblack is black...This black sand beach is magnificent. we walked there from puerto cruz, about 1 hour. the walk was pleasant on the heights. the waves make the beach even more beautiful, well I burned my feet a little... the little bar high up with the ducks roaming free was so funny.Visited April 2024Traveled with friendsWritten May 12, 2024
- HY1 contributionFantastically beautifulThe most beautiful beach I have seen in Tenerife where you can also go into the water. The bay is incredibly beautiful and the waves were wild, just what we like. We walked from Puerto de la Cruz through the banana fields. (The path was OK, but I wouldn't do it in some places with flip-flops.) Flip-flops or similar are recommended on the beach. There are hardly any stones, but the sand gets hot. And we liked El Bullullo so much that we didn't want to leave.Visited May 2024Traveled with familyWritten May 24, 2024
- Johannes H41 contributionsBlack beach with adventurous arrivalDirections are very adventurous. You should be aware that you drive 500-600 meters down a narrow road where cars come on at all times. Sometimes you have to drive several meters backwards. Once you have done that you will find a beautiful beach. Unfortunately we could not swim due to the swell. But you could get into the water up to your hips. Also the way from the parking lot to the beach is a bit steep, you should have sturdy footwear with you. All in all a great experience near Puerto de la Cruz.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 25, 2024
- Ismael MIllescas, Spain8 contributionsParadise beachBeautiful black sand beach and crystal clear waters. Getting to the beach is a small adventure of narrow roads but finally worth it. There are two coats, one larger and one smaller. In the big one there's a bar where you can rent umbrellas. If you venture with the car, there is a parking that costs 5€. You can pay by card. Please, if you go try to be as clean as possible, it is worth keeping these beaches in good condition.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 11, 2024
- DancingWithUnicornsBulle, Switzerland50 contributionsNuce experienceNice beach, big waves, nice atmosphere. The sand is very very hot and you have no shade unless you rent an umbrella (12 eur - umbrella + 2 sunbeds). Also, the parking is not free (5 eur), and the access is very narrow.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 18, 2024
- Compass566023610047 contributionsLovely beach!Lovely beach with nice beach bar. Coarse lava sand/pebbles. Road to it, by car, a drama. Just wide enough for 1 car. In the afternoon it was arranged but still. Beach itself is top!!! Tip. park the car in Puerto de la Cruz, and from there a pedestrian path about 15 to 20 minutes to the beach.Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 20, 2024
- Maria-Rosa P27 contributionsStunning piece of TenerifeAstounding beautiful beach. We were staying in Puerto del la Cruz and took us about 45 mins to walk to the beach through a banana plantation. Was so worth the walk when you get there, it is absolutely stunning. You can hire sun beds and an umbrella (a must as the sand is black and gets everywhere) for €12 for the whole day. There is a great beach bar with toilets which serve great drinks and food. Well worth a visit when staying near.Visited October 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten October 6, 2024

Lovely walk round the coast and through banana plantations from puerto de la Cruz, took about 40 mins. Got there on 26th Feb, life guard at top, work going on on the cliffs leading down to beach, car park closed and path fenced off with permanent sign saying access prohibited. Beach Churinguito looked very much closed up so no we settled for a coffee in the top bar/ restaurant which had lovely views out over. Public footpath round also stopped here.

This is a lovely little beach hidden away at the edge of Porto. Its a bit of a trek to get to and taking a car down can be a bit scary but well worth it. The beach is at the bottom of a cliff with a car park next to a restaurant at the top of the cliff, then a trek down many steps.
The sand is black but fine and soft. The beach has a cafe, toilets a lifeguard and you can rent basic loungers and parasols. Its not particular long at a few hundred meters but doesn't get over crowded.

Beautiful black sand beach. The waves were great too.
However, it was difficult to drive down to the beach - only one car can fit on the road, and there weren't too many spots where 2 cars could fit, it was a stressful drive, so I'd recommend parking up the hill and hiking down, it's around 1.5km to get to the beach from the main road.

Narrow two-way street to reach the beach, no sign that warns of what you are about to travel, no sign that warns that at the bottom there will be a paid parking. Incorrect valet who at 18:15 insisted on having the payment of 5 euros as tourists. (Residents 3 euros, but he gave it as a gift, we really felt made fun of). The beach and the landscape is breathtaking but unfortunately the management is not regulated, there would be a shuttle for safety and definitely more transparency. Not recommended.

Nice beach with difficult access. Narrow street with no or hardly any alternatives in oncoming traffic. Private and therefore paid parking. The restaurant Bollullo Beach is customer unfriendly. The waitress only asks if you have reserved a table and not what you actually want as a guest. Accordingly, the stay there is short.
Conclusion: The hard-to-reach beach is certainly worth seeing, but avoid the local restaurant Bollullo Beach.

16.08.24 road to reach this unique alternating beach... at the expected return of 30m by car stopped to return because there is no other road.
Upon arrival, only paid parking of 5euro per day. You go down to the black beach...beautiful. Lifeguard,w only bar with exorbitant expenses start work at 11 am until 6 pm.
There are no showers to rinse from salt. Facilities, of the bar without open door light practically.
For the beach deserves.... for everything else I do not recommend it.

I have been coming to Puerto de la Cruz for years before "Corona" and know the beach to be almost deserted and now this chaos.
The only narrow road - or rather winding path - up from Rincon is completely overloaded.
Unfortunately a quiet, very beautiful beach "Bollullo" is a thing of the past!

The fact that this is a bit of a walk from Puerto and not easy to drive means that it is a lovely quiet spot. There is a beach bar on the beach and a restaurant above it. It is not easy if you have walking difficulties as there are a lot of steps. WARNING: check if it is open before you go as there have been notifications about it being closed in 2022

Most difficult access whilst driving I’ve ever faced in my life. Long windy road with few places to pass in my hire car given to me by threatening Spaniard at the okmobility centre. Once you get there you have to park at the el bollulo restaurant. Also rude waiter slammed the reserve sign before finished at our table

Lovely walk from Puerto de la Cruz through banana plantations to get here. Unfortunately, as mentioned in previous reviews , the beach is currently closed. This is due to rock falls onto the beach and paths. They are hard at work trying to secure the rocks above the beach. I spoke to the lifeguard and he said that they hoped the beach would be open again in a few months. Still worth the walk, the bar/ restaurant above is still open.

Thanks for your help.

La Tejita in the south at the back of the airport is a great sandy but more remote beach which is popular with naturists.
The beaches I went to in the North were all black sand. There is also the man made beach La Teresitas past the capita Santa Cruz.

Ho un bimbo di undici mesi vorrei andare in bus e poi a piedi bimbo nel marsupio, viaggio da sola e non mi spaventa camminare. ..c'è la faccio?
Written May 20, 2015
Sicuramente si facile discesa alla spiaggia, hai un ristorante sopra attaccato al parcheggio e sotto sulla spiaggia un altro. Dalla autopista principale al ristorante c'è un po di strada ma si fa se ami camminare!
