Lovely walk round the coast and through banana plantations from puerto de la Cruz, took about 40 mins. Got there on 26th Feb, life guard at top, work going on on the cliffs leading down to beach, car park closed and path fenced off with permanent sign saying access prohibited. Beach Churinguito looked very much closed up so no we settled for a coffee in the top bar/ restaurant which had lovely views out over. Public footpath round also stopped here.

This is a lovely little beach hidden away at the edge of Porto. Its a bit of a trek to get to and taking a car down can be a bit scary but well worth it. The beach is at the bottom of a cliff with a car park next to a restaurant at the top of the cliff, then a trek down many steps.
The sand is black but fine and soft. The beach has a cafe, toilets a lifeguard and you can rent basic loungers and parasols. Its not particular long at a few hundred meters but doesn't get over crowded.

Beautiful black sand beach. The waves were great too.
However, it was difficult to drive down to the beach - only one car can fit on the road, and there weren't too many spots where 2 cars could fit, it was a stressful drive, so I'd recommend parking up the hill and hiking down, it's around 1.5km to get to the beach from the main road.

The fact that this is a bit of a walk from Puerto and not easy to drive means that it is a lovely quiet spot. There is a beach bar on the beach and a restaurant above it. It is not easy if you have walking difficulties as there are a lot of steps. WARNING: check if it is open before you go as there have been notifications about it being closed in 2022

Lovely walk from Puerto de la Cruz through banana plantations to get here. Unfortunately, as mentioned in previous reviews , the beach is currently closed. This is due to rock falls onto the beach and paths. They are hard at work trying to secure the rocks above the beach. I spoke to the lifeguard and he said that they hoped the beach would be open again in a few months. Still worth the walk, the bar/ restaurant above is still open.

Very nice beach. It is a bit more difficult to get there, can’t really imagine it with litlle kids (3years old and younger), the waves were huuuge, so we couldn’t really swim there but it was still worthy. Also recommend the restaurant on the top!

This beach 2 km. from the city is a real treat. Walking through the magnificent banana tree plantations in itself is a treat then down and up the barranco de la arena [which is a dried up river canyon] and along the final stretch to a hidden cliff surrounded cove, you can belief again in paradise. A lot of steps 300 down the cliff the beach is fun, as all beaches are but its isolation and non commercial nature makes it very different from the majority of beaches in a group if islands who live and breath for the tourist industry. Considerind Teneriffe, and all the Canary islands are volcanic mountains beaches themselves are the minority of island coastlines where cliffs reign supreme, beach bollullo is well worth the walk and one that you will enjoy returning to.
A taxi from town will cost 4 and a half euros âbout 2pounds 70 pence and the trip is also interesting but very different from the banana experience.

We were staying in Puerto de la Cruz and decided to visit this local beach. Be prepared, it is quite a long walk from the town and once you leave the road you are on a rough path with lots of steps, slopes and hills. There is a laneway down to the headland above the beach where there is a restaurant and a car park, so it would be possible to get to the headland above the beach by car. From the headland, there is a path down to the beach however it would not be accessible to people with walking difficulties.
The beach is sloping and it has black volcanic sand. Sun umbrellas are available to rent at the beach. When we were there the waves were large and there was a rip tide so I simply paddled at the shore and did not try to swim. Be aware the incoming tide comes far up the beach to the rocks in places and if there is a large wave it can catch you unawares (as it did us!).
If you are keen to explore the area and enjoy a walk which takes you through banana plantations and gives wonderful views, I would recommend you try to visit this area. Get directions before you set out, wear good walking footwear and take water for the way.

Take a walk along the coast east from PDLC. From the Lido follow the road out of the resort - alongside the tunnel and go up the hill, walking up the hard shoulder of the main road. At the top bend go down small steps and this takes you to a path in a banana plantation - follow the paths east and eventually you arrive - after 20-30 mins brisk walk - at the cliff above the beach. Absolutely amazing views with dramatic sea....beach was actually closed as sea was too rough and dangerous when we were there
Lovely to get out in the countryside - we stopped to look a a herd of goats. Café near cliff top for refreshments.
This is a lovely walk and would be great for joggers too

Bollullo is about 20minutes 'walk' from La Paz through the banana plantation, down the baranco, up again, past the restaurante and down to the first beach there the bar provides cold beer and generous sandwiches. The sand is Black and Hot, the surf can be dangerous, but the situation warrants the effort. If you are really adventurous carry on another 10 minutes through the bushes and down one of the crumbling 'paths' to the eastern beach, quieter than the first, but if you've forgotten your bikini/trunks you'll blend in with those who didn't bother to bring them in the first place.

La Tejita in the south at the back of the airport is a great sandy but more remote beach which is popular with naturists.
The beaches I went to in the North were all black sand. There is also the man made beach La Teresitas past the capita Santa Cruz.

Sicuramente si facile discesa alla spiaggia, hai un ristorante sopra attaccato al parcheggio e sotto sulla spiaggia un altro. Dalla autopista principale al ristorante c'è un po di strada ma si fa se ami camminare!
