Visited La Laguna from Puerto de la Cruz by local bus from the La Paz district of Puerto. €2.55 each way with a bono card. This turned out to be the highlight of my two week holiday to the North of Tenerife. La Laguna is designated a World Heritage site, and from the minute you leave the bus station, cross over to the University and walk deeper into the town you soon find out why. It's as if time has stood still. All the houses, churches and little squares are fascinating and unspoiled. Lovely museum enclosed in an old Spanish Town House. Very vibrant city because of the vast number of students at the Islands University mixed with locals and tourists. Really loved it, and if you have to choose between a visit to Santa Cruz or La Laguna, there is no competition. La Laguna wins hands down.

Not much here but a few things like Columbus ship models and a huge cannon are unique. The building itself is of interest. Free entry, too!

A very interesting small museum. The iPhone commentary adds to this. The 2 young women in reception were exceptional in their help and information. Real ambassadors for the museum and for Tenerife.

We were curios about the history of the island, and this museum is a good place to get information about it. The house of the museum is very nice and has it's own interesting history. The stuff was very helpful and we had no problem to walk around with a baby stroller (the museum is on the 1. floor). The only problem was that the info was given to us in a booklet, which contained a lot of pages to read, so we spent much time standing and reading. They those booklets in 4 languages!

It's an interesting museum, but 2 things need to be realised for tourists. Firstly, it's primarily aimed at children, and secondly almost all of the instructions for the many hands on demonstrations are in Spanish - which is fair enough. I come from a science type background, and it was hard enough to figure things out, so I'm not sure that a family of tourists would enjoy it so much

The museum itself is interesting as it reveals the history of the islands in terms of their social and economic development over a long time frame. The courtyard of the building is very beautiful and the C18th family carriage a highlight.

A fascinating museum about the development of the Island. We were greeted warmly and politely offered concessions (my wife qualifies). Our attention was drawn to the free commentary on a smartphone and this was great, as it drew our attention to enough salient artefacts for our visit. The carriage shed was closed from 3pm, but a security guard offered to open it and he gave us all the time we needed. Excellent value.

This museum is a collection of artifacts describing the colonizing of the island by the Spaniards and how the economy was grown over the last 500 years. If you are retired there is a discount for seniors.

You get more out of your visit here if you have a smart phone/ipad with internet access and download the museum guide, so that as you go around you are told the significance of the exhibits otherwise all the signage is only in Spanish. Lots of interesting things in a beautiful old building, friendly helpful staff, we enjoyed seeing a childhood memory of individually wrapped tomatoes. We were disappointed however to find that the separate building housing the 2 carriages was shut, but very kindly had this opened up for us. The highlight for us was the Landau carriage which apparently features heavily in Jane Austen novels fantastic design and engineering, must be one of the worlds first convertible vehicles!

We had hoped the museum would give a vision into life in that house when it was first built & how it was used. If rooms had been recreated in the period it have been helpful & given a greater insight , but the restoration was excellent. Worth viewing but I didn’t notice a cafe?
