In a souvenir shop (near Ale Hop) after purchasing 2 novelty salt and pepper sets and leaving the shop, I was asked if I would like a carrier bag. The kind owner then wondered if I should like to visit the market in Fanabe, if so he would give me a ticket whereby his shop would get discount and so would I. Because he had been kind I agreed to accept the ticket although not sure if we would in fact visit the market. My husband and I were then introduced to his brother, who after explaining where and when the markets were, mentioned they had a a shop near to the Los Cristianos market (Open Technology or Technology today?). He then skilfully introduced us to the concept of purchasing a Samsung tablet for 29 euros which dropped to 25 euros. After dialogue to and fro we agreed to the purchase and paid cash. This led on to phase 2 of the sales pitch whereby we were encourage to pay more, but for a much better deal. This we declined which seemed to surprise the salesmen as they pressed in further with arguments to support the dearer option. From the initial offer of the bag, we were still in the shop some considerable time later trying to rid ourselves of a persistent sales pitch which took a revisit next day to the shop to finally resolve. So a simple "yes please" to the gift of a small, white carrier bag led to an unwelcome interruption to a tranquil evening leaving a sour after taste on an otherwise very enjoyable and extremely pleasant stay in the Torviscas/Puerto Colon area.

Ripped off by these very clever Indian/Pakistani shopkeepers next door to Ale Hop in Port Colin Adeje. The first Chap says that they have a great offer on a Samsung tablet due to Santa Cruz Carnival(60% discount) for €29.
One is then taken to the back of the shop to another chap who then tells you that the Samsung tablet is 3G and it’s from their old liquidation stock and persuade you to buy a much better Google Satellite 5G tablet for a discounted (50%) price of €149. Then he tells you that the tablet has to be sent to their technician to install the appropriate software so that everything will work in the UK. Unfortunately We were taken in and first paid €29 for the Samsung and then an additional €90 for the upgrade to the Google one. We paid by my credit card with a touch iPhone.
Whilst we were out walking my wife found out that this whole thing is a scam with lots of reviews on the Web. We decided to go back and ask for a refund and after a long debate a senior expert agreed to refund us the total less €19 which he told us was for the transportation of the tablet to and from the engineer.
I questioned that the refunds were not to my credit card number that I had used but he told me that he scanned my card and transaction number was the original payment one so I will definitely get the refund. However we examined the refund receipts and found that he had refunded/transferred the money to cards with totally different numbers. Having contacted my card provider I am now awaiting to contact their dispute team to seek a resolution
The long and short of it all is that please avoid these sharks and don’t get tempted by their clever and persuasive methods to offer these products at ridiculously bargain prices

Thank you RSmith 264 from Grimsby who sent in a report on a scam at Fashion Square on Sept 2019. I was in the same Fashion Square shop next to Ale Hop today with my partner and went through a very similar experience.
We were stopped and asked if would purchase a Samsung Tablet for 30 Euros explaining how fantastic it was but the salesman then passed us on to the shop "technician" who then told us all the problems we would encounter with the Samsung and advised us to purchase an all singing and dancing google tablet for 120 Euros. He would not take no for an answer and eventually offered the Google Tablet for 80 Euros along with several extras [language change, anti virus etc] which would take 2 to 3 working days to complete. To my discredit, I agreed, paid them and agreed to come back to collect in 3 days time, I was confused that the Tablet did not have the manufacturers name of Google on the packing and after leaving looked up the internet to find out that Google had now decided to stop making Tablets, followed by reading the review from RSmith from Grimsby. I decided not to go through the same hassle they did and would go back and ask for my money to be returned. On arrival the original salesman was there and I informed him I wanted my money returned, he told us to wait for the "technician" who arrived within a few minutes and instantly agreed to reimburse me. They were obviously aware that we knew about the scam and while leaving the shop, the salesman aggresively tried to grab my partners mobile phone away from her hand, I can only imagine because he thought she was taking photos, I had to push him away from her a few seconds of handbags at dawn passed by before we left. The Technician had earier advised us he came from New Delhi and the salesman was also asian, both around 30 years old. Thanks again to my new friend from Grimsby, and I hope these reviews will help others not to get caught up in the same SCAM which they are very good at.

We went into a gift shop for some sunglasses but shouldn’t have been scammed by a clever technician , who suggested we buy a tablet. The other posts on this sum up our own experience, almost word by word the one posted by from Archie. So don’t bother going in unless you are really in need of an item, as you will be drawn in on this scam.

Like other posts below we encountered the heavy pressure selling of the fake Samsung tablets while in Fashion Square. My wife only went into the shop to buy a hair brush but we were quickly involved in the tablet sales routine and passed onto their Technician who offered an improved offer.
Despite explaining that I have a far superior tablet and wasn't interested they weren't discouraged and eventually came down to a laughable figure of €15!
Earlier posts describe the fate that will befall you but the basic message is just say No and walk on.
You have been warned!!!

Just returned from Costa Adeje and unfortunately found myself the victim of a scam.
Bought a tablet supposedly Samsung, showed us an Argos book that stated it was ÂŁ749 back in the UK. Paid 175 euros including a keyboard case.
Supposed to have a 10 hour battery life - only 1 hour and a 64gb memory – only 16gb. Also a OLED 4K screen – was only 1024 x 600, not even HD!
Approached first by front man at Fashion Square store next to Ale-Hop and offered a discount at his market store. He then sold me a very cheap tablet. It was only 25 euros.
Passed us onto a technician to complete the sale. However that is where he tells you the tablet is only a sim based with no wifi. Then proceeds to sell me the 'Samsung'. Asked us to pay for it then states that you cannot take it yet as it needs altering to suit the UK. He doesn't know how to change it from Spanish to English!
Asked us to come back 3 days later as it would then have been changed to English, with a promise of a virus checker and a 2 year warranty.
Went back 3 days later and was told the tablet is nearly ready but we need to go to another shop, because the wifi in the shop is down, to have the security removed so we could pass through customs. He took us in a gold coloured BMW.
They then asked for ID and our credit card as a charge of 1.29 euros needs to be made to open a Google account on the tablet. Then claimed he could not do it as our flight home was more than 24 hours later. Was told to come back again the following day. They would pick us up from the hotel and if need be drop us at the airport if required.
After getting back to the hotel we checked the internet and found loads of reports regarding this type of scam.
The following morning I rang the Halifax to put a hold on my card in case he fancied a few more pounds. Some people have been scammed for nearly ÂŁ3000.
I then rang the technician and told him we would not be coming back again and he was to deliver the tablet to our hotel. He insisted that we had to be present when he took the security program off the tablet.
Received a phone call from a third person who was very snappy and abrupt. Claimed we had asked him to set up the tablet (not true) and that it was here and the next time we visit Tenerife it would be waiting for collection.
I threatened him with Tenerife trading standards and the police he then hung up.
A few minutes later the technician rang and said he had managed to get our tablet and would deliver it to our hotel later that morning.
The tablet arrived in a plastic bag with no box, no additional software as promised and certainly no security patch. There was no letter as promised for tax purposes at the airport. The 2 year warranty slip did not have the Vendors name or address and no serial number. No information as to where to send it in case of breakdown. A useless piece of paper!
The tablet is a cheap chinese import called Itabx.
The invoice does not mention a Samsung Tablet or a 64gb drive, however it does say the tablet would have a UltraHD 4K screen. (Not true)
I have sent a message to the technician asking for a full refund and await his reply before taken any further action.
The address on the slip/receipt is
TAB STORE, Fashion Square, C.C.Puerto Colon, L 103 38660 Adeje, Tenerife.
KEEP WELL AWAY FROM THESE FRAUDSTERS.
I have managed to get my money back through my bank, so it has not cost me anything in the end.

The Samsung Tablet scam continues in Fashion Square, Puerto Colon, Costa Adeje!
It is disgusting that the shop next to Ale Hop near the marina is still in business and allowed to trade. It is run by excellent con artists who completley bamboozle the tourists into purchasing samsung tablets and like all previous reviews the process of their fraudulent activities are still going on for several years. They are absolute masters of conning you out of large amounts of money, they offer you drinks, offer to pay for lunch at the nearby restaurant (who must also get a cut of the deal. Offers of discounted price to stay in one of the apartments that the boss man owns along with 50 shops and market stall too.
Please avoid it at all costs it hides their shady dealing under to cover of selling mainly black t shirts with an array of images on the front. Dont be fooled by their warm and friendly nature it all part of the act to get money out of you.As a result of this which has left a sour taste in out months we will not be visiting Tenerife again! Well done T shirt shop for trying to scam us!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi did you pay for the tablet in he Tab Store or in the Fashion Shop to the right of Tab store. I had to pay in the Fashion Store as it was under same management. The guy called himself Gavin! The invoice I got had an invoice number 4567 for 294e. I am assuming this is the same inv no. on every invoice. After it had been converted to UK operating sytem 4 days later I was told it requires an import certificate to avoid 20%VAT should only take half hour at most! - Yes I was taken for a ride in new red mercedes 4wd from hotel 4pm on the last night before early flight home for special import certificate which can only be done on-line via Tenerife Sth aeroport system. But because Tab Store 'internet was down' and several of their other stores were down we have to travel to their Google Store 6 Paseo Rincon del Puerto. Arona, Los Cristianos which apparently is where the operating system was converted to English. There is an ATM machine at the entrance. We get there and driver says 3 other customers queuing so I am deposited at a coffee bar on sea front given free coffee and asked to wait 20mins. Sun's very hot, kept waitng for an hour longer. Eventually brought into Google Store. Sold the Sky Q package for 2450e plus SkyQ SIM 370e (Google Tablet is same engine as Sky Q Tablet (NOT)) Google store is associated with Sky and they are outlet. On-line application complete payment now. Credit cards not accepted. Debit and pin now. OK payment through. Payment for SIM card now. Apparently Pin not accepted. Man handled to ATM machine at entrance. 350e max for machine transactions and 20e from pocket. Inside I ask for invoices and get the stare! You have got the invoice and documents by email from Sky. Then advised that as it is late I have to go so escorted to car and dropped at hotel. At hotel reception they say police cannot come tonight and must go to police station tomorrow.!!! How do we stop these robbers?
