A quaint hamlet with good walks and restaurant
Feb 2020 • Couples
A quaint hamlet in the North of Tenerife. From it there are several walks where you can see over to Teide in one direction and down to the most isolated Northern town in the other. These are easy although can be slippery in places. Their are cave dwellings set into the local rocks which you walk by and over their roof tops.
The hamlet has a family run restaurant where you sample local wines, eat Tenerife goat and rabbit dishes and relax.
Well worth a visit.

Lovely and quiet, great short walk and scenery
Nov 2019 • Couples
We drove from Santa Cruz which was hilly but straightforward, stopped to take plenty of photos on route. We saw only 4 other walkers so very quiet. We just had trainers on and there's a simple trail around the village. Lovely scenery and really interesting houses set in the rock.

Be careful going back from Chinamada
Mar 2019 • Family
It a myth you news special mountain shoes, we did Chinamada with very basic running ones. However, my advice iš to be careful going back, šone places may be slippery. Restaurant in Chinamada is good, cold beer is fine. If you did not tried yet, ask papas arugadas. It is local wrinkled potatoes. After coming back, visit natural piscina in Bayamar, this iš not far.

Unusual little village set in stunning scenery
Jul 2018 • Couples
We came here with a guide on a private tour of the Anaga region. It is an unusual little village with its cave houses set into the hillside; the locals don't seem to mind visitors wandering around and taking photos, luckily! The local area is stunning scenically and there is a gorgeous coastal viewpoint a short hike from the village as well.

There is a little restaurant, the food is nice and typical. Advice for the tourist if you wanna try something typical is a nice spot. Queso asado, Carne Cabra y Ropa Vieja were really tasty.

We started at Cruz del Carmen and hiked to Chinamada then down to Punta del Hidalgo. Gorgeous views! Nice pit stop at THE Chinamada restaurant for a drink.

Amazing restaurant!
Jan 2016 • Couples
We been to the restaurant of the city today as it was in our path (10 kilometers through the rocky mountains! Enjoyed it very much). We wanted a snack so we ordered one soup to share, one half the portion of the rabbit and one half of the portion of goat meat. We read that it is a traditional foods of the place so wanted to try it. The soup was very simple, but tasty and home made and it was quite a bit of it. The real joy came with the mains. First of all, the portions were huge. We barely finished it and it was supposed to be half of the portion. Also, the meat came with fried potatoes (we could choose how we wanted them) and we received a whole plate of those. The meat was so tender and nice, very well made. Me and my husband paid almost 15 euros and were extremely satisfied. Great place

Awesome!

Chinamada appears after a winding drive through the laurel forest of the Anaga mountains, with a sheer drop on one side. The people here live in houses cut into the tufa, and seem quite tolerant of people wandering about taking photos; I suppose not many actually make it to the end of the road! The scenery is jaw-dropping. In the sunshine you can see through the mountains to the coast - every little terrace is cultivated. Clouds are frequent - hence the level of cultivation - but just accentuate one's feeling of being somewhere wild and far from civilzation (only there is electricity and TV!)
