We took a coach up with the intention of taking the cable car to the summit (that was closed for safety), The journey up & back is interesting & certainly fascinating as well as challenging going through the cloud base in both directions. How the coach maneuvers the turns is tantamount to a miracle there are not more accidents.
The parking area however & surrounding areas are well worth the trip with its remarkable scenery, above the clouds. So many variations in plateau's & rock formations, a fantastic place for mindfulness, just sit on a rock & watch nature in its rawest form. Hotel /Cafe is a rip off & you pay to use the only facilities available (free if you buy an over priced item in the shop!).
We didn't have the opportunity but there are sunset tours which I would in hindsight have taken to see such a clear sky at night must be stunning, something to think about.
Well worth the trip.

If you want to go with the cable car on Teide volcano, the ticket is around 38 euros for a return trip. The cable car reaches 3500m. You can also reach the peak, if the weather is good and have a special authorization. From the cable car viewpoint you can enjoy some nice views over the park, seeing the old vocano (there is information about the development of the volcano) The temperatures are low on Teide, so I would recommend to dress acordingly.

I hired a car and took a leisurely drive from Los Cristianos via Valle de San Lorenzo, Granadilla di Abona and Vilaflor (the best and most scenic route in my opinion) setting off around 9.30 am. As you enter the main crater, Las Canadas, which is vast, the landscape is just awesome! I booked online in advance for 1140 and when I arrived there were plenty of car parking spaces. One hour later and it was full. Very efficient boarding the cable car, staff very helpful, you get approx one hour at the top (I stayed a little longer, no problem, the return time doesn't seem to be fixed)) There's a path around the mountain, from the top cable car station, where you get fantastic views of Las Canadas, the main crater, the horizon beyond, surrounding islands and a close up view of Pico Viejo. You can't go to the summit anymore without buying a special ticket./ pass online a few weeks in advance, costs 66 euros, for 3 hours. The air is quite thin at the top station of the cable car, but shouldn't be an issue unless you have breathing difficulties or suffer from vertigo. Although this was January and there were patches of snow around, the sun felt quite strong in a crystal clear blue sky, so I was quite comfortable with a warm jacket over a t-shirt, and good trainers, Having been to the summit twice in the past with the family I can definitely recommend it if you don't mind the cost and the risk of cancellation due to bad weather as you have to book so far in advance, Even if you don't do the cable car trip, I can highly recommend a visit, an experience not to be missed.

Tickets are only sold online although there is no internet at Teide, yet many employees who could have sold them or inform us that the hiking track is actually closed. We had to drive back to a roadside cafe to buy tickets for 37 eur/person so we could drive in an over crowded cable car and end up in a closed over crowded balcony. The amount of money that is charged for this service should not be legal and we feel like it is a tourist scam.

Volcano, park itself and hikes there are beautiful, but agency organizing trips (Volcano Teide experience) is horrible and I recommend to avoid it and do the trip on your own. This Is my feedback for them:
Firstly I was unable to order thé trip at all on your website. I tried to contact support but I was given totally horrible answer, totaly unuseful. So I booked trip in another time an another type of the service And it somehow worked(?!?!). The day of the trip we were told that cabine doesnt work because of thé Wind, which would be ok if we wouldnt be rufunded only 38% of the paid price!! So we threw 88 EUR in to the toilet! We wanted to go to Teide no to have some alternative hike, which we didnt use at all and we went to Teide by ourselves. Because originally we wanted to book permission to Teide but one month in advance it was totally fully booked, so only legal way was to buy trip from you. This is shame and touristic rip off!

A drive up to El Tiede from the coast followed by a trip up in the cable car and a hike up to the summit. Best to book your tickets online as numbers are limited for each session and this avoids having crowds at the top. You can spend an hour admiring the views or taking one of a couple of trails.
We obtained permits for the summit many months ago. They are free but make sure you apply in plenty of time as numbers are limited and you only have a 2 hr window. The climb is about 650m but it is hard going with thin air at that altitude. It's not just a steep walk there is some rock scrambling involved, something to bear in mind for older/younger/unfit members of the party. Totally worth it for the amazing view from the highest point in Spain right down to the coast in one direction across this "alien" landscape in the other. The cable car trip is slightly pricy but if it goes to keeping this natural wonder in a pristine condition then it is worth it.

Came here last week of October with my partner and our 12 year old. Booked a tour on line which picked us up near our hotel and provided us with commentary through the journey to and through the park. The trip also include the cable car to the top (be aware that this is weather dependent so may not run) If you are not on a tour you can book these on line in advance. Air at the top is a little thin so take your time and if you do feel light headed do take time to sit down – and, don’t forget it will be cold up there so bring warm clothes and also wear suitable walking boots. If you are a hiker you can hike to the very top (you need to pay for a permit). After the cable car we had a light lunch at the café at the base of the cable car, which was of good quality, before heading off to see Roques de Garcia (great for photographs).

This is another must if you visit Tenerife, however again if you do not like heights this is not for the faint hearted. Get to visit a real, live volcano 🌋 and see experiments with the lava rock. Safety regulations are obviously in place here. The coach up the mountain was spectacular with astonishing views, great for photos and if you prefer, there is a camel 🐫 ride which is reasonably priced. There is a restaurant at top of the volcano depending on time permitted, it was lovely 😊

We booked tickets for the following day but received notice that it wasn't going to run due to strong winds. we rebooked a few days later and drove to the cable car station. We managed to park up the road only a few minutes walk away. We were met by our guide and once the group was together the guide took us straight through onto the loading platform. At the top we regrouped and the guide walked us around a path explaining in detail what we were seeing. It was considerably colder but fresh air. There was loads of loose stones from eruptions, snow in places, steam vents with yellow sulphur sublimed where the moisture has escaped. The views were great almost like a lunar landscape. A geography lesson in one hit. The walk was quite easy but you have to wear good fitting shoes, my white trainers are no longer white from the volcanic dust. After the tour we thanked our guide and went to the station to get the cable car back down.

Hi all - I’m looking for a ticket to the Teide for 11/24 and the best case scenario would be one that includes parking, cable car ride up and down and permit to climb to the peak. Any recommendations or any advice for those who has visited the Teide before?

You can buy tickets at arrival for the cable car.
However we tried to get a permit for the park too but it was not possible at that time. The national park gives the permission so you have to apply for it in advance on their website.

Hola. No es difícil, pero hay que tener en cuenta la altura. Te puedes sentir con falta de aire. Hay que ir despacio.

What is the time you have on top with a return cable car ticket? Is it enough to visit the summit and the two viewports to the right and left?
Or should you just buy separate up & down tickets to maximize the time on top?

There is plenty of time, they give you a timelimit but I didn't bother checking it and they never made an issue out of it.

Hello, Are there any excursions where you can hike up Mount Teide (without using cable car) via Montana Blanco route and then hike up the crater and then be able to use the cable car to come down? Am doing it by myself (Wife and kids will probably do the cable car both ways) so need a group/guide.

Easy but it's a very hard climb to the top, if you feel up to it, count about 5 hours to get to the upper cable car station and another hour to get to the summit, down is faster.

Buenas, voy a visitar el Teide la primera semana de septiembre y me gustaría saber si por esa época hace falta llevar un abrigo gordo para subir al pico o con una sudadera podría bastar. Gracias!

Hello
We are sorry but Teide Cable Car will remain closed, at least, until July 27 included.
Best regards

Hi,
I have booked a permit on 18th of July, 15.00-17.00 slot.
As the cable car is closed until 28th of July due to the virus outbreak, do you think I'll be able to use the Montana Blanco route and to come down in time before is getting too dark?
Has anyone tried this?
Many thanks, Dorin
