While in Tenerife recently we booked a trip to Mount Tiede from one of the booking agents in Los Cristianos. He receommended we go with VRT and they did not let us down. We went for the Mount Teide and Western villages trip. The bus was punctual and we immediately met our guide for the day - a Hungarian with brilliant english called Swotch. For the next 10 hours we traveled through the north west of the island and seen so much. Swotch had a brilliant knowledge of everything on the route. There were 2 coffee breaks and a lunch break as well. Mount Teide was breath taking however the cable cars were closed but that wasnt VRT's fault. I would advise anyone thinking of doing thesetrips to remember to take a hoodie/jacket because it can be quite windy and cold in the mountains. It can also be a long day so when you get a chance to fuel up take it or else take plenty of refreshments with you. The price of the trip varies from outlet to outlet. the firt one we went to "was giving us a deal" at €28 however we managed to get the trip for €22 which we thought was great value considering the miles we covered.

I worked with VRT for a company event in Tenerife and I had booked 1 weeks of services including Airport Transfers and Excursions. The problem was the bus driver would pick up the group from the hotel, but never show up to return them back to the hotel. The first time it happened we contacted the company, they promised they will fix it. the next night same problem, the night after that again the same problem. This shows NO seriousness when it happens for 3 times! You can't even count on having their contact details, since the bus driver never answers...

As we informed you via e-mail, you know that our bus driver was waiting for your group two times of the three and they did not show up. We were searching for them each time more than 1 hour. Regarding to our GPS Data we cannot explain why your group could not find our bus the two times. Nevertheless, we are really sorry for the dircomfort. As compensation you have received a refund from us for taxi costs and a transfer (bus which had technical problems). As you can see, we sincerly want the best for our guests.

See Barbara S' review of March 2017. Ours was exactly the same except our bus was 30 minutes late in picking up (possible resulting in less time on Teide) and then our seat collapsed on the coach, injuring the lady sat behind (I'm an average size female).

We booked the Teide half day tour with this company. When we arrived to the cable car our guide bought the tickets for everybody and told us we need to back from the tour by 20 minutes to 12pm. I asked the tour guide if we need to be down by this time or take the car on the top. The tour guide answered. "You need to be down here. If you late 5 minutes the bus is not gonna be here" We went up and when arrived to the top my partner did not feel ok for few minutes because of the lack of oxygen. We started to walk around a bit later however turned back from half way, because we were a bit scarred if the bus just leave us there. My partner said better if we go down earlier. We did not know how long does it take exactly as well as the frequency. (The tour guide did not give us any info about this.) We were down by 11:20AM. The bus came back by 11:45AM and we waited for the last couple to arrive until 12PM. We were down 40 minutes before them! We paid 2X27 euros for the cable car tickets and 2X26 euros for the bus, however I could not enjoy it, because the tour guide threated me if we late 5 minutes they gonna leave us there. (I am not a school kid, I am 42 years old.) It is not about the 40 minutes we waited there for others, it is about the inconvenient feeling and worries the comment has caused inside us, and demolished the joy of the trip. I would not recommend this tour to anybody, find another company or just take the titsa bus.

Don't book with this company!! They will take you just 5km away from the Teide cable car and that is all. The cable car was functional but they said that there is no time to visit!

Dear Mirela,
first of all we wanted to thank you for choosing to do a trip with us and also for taking the time to review us. Unfortunatelly it is correct that you coulnd't use the cable car during your excursion yesterday. As you know, in the morning our company received the information that the cable car will be closed due to the weather (which was true). We informed you about that when you were getting onto the bus and explained it to you. During the time you spend up in the national park the weather changed and the cable car was opened up again. This was an unforseen event which happens quiet frequently here because we get sudden climate changes often. The problem is, that in order to use the cable car during the excursion we need to prebook it. Of course we had prebooked places for yesterday as well, but it was way past that time (over 20 minutes) when the cable car opened up again. Booking a spot directly there takes between 1-3 hours which indeed we were not possible to provide, mostly because there were many others on the excursion which would have had to wait for you. As we already talked to your selling point and to our guide, which both assured that they explained to you just the same, I know that you are already aware of those facts. But please take in mind, that you booked a half day trip to mount Teide which includes the option to use the cable car if possible. If, like yesterday, it is not possible, we are informing all of our clients as soon as we receive the information and provide of course an alternative, which yesterday was a longer visit to the national park as well as an extra stop at Pino Gordo. In the national park you visited the famous "Roques de Garcia" which is the most interesting and beautiful part. We are sad to hear, that you did not enjoy our excursion.

We booked the tour through the booking agent at our hotel. We were told the tour would be a half day trip to Mount Teide with a weather dependent cable car ride (we specifically asked for the cable car when booking).
We were picked up at 08:30. The morning of the tour the coach broke down on the way (this can't be helped and a replacement was sent within 30 minutes).
The coach consisted of different trips including Loro Park, Siam Park and the Teide half day and full day. Dropping off at Siam Park took time away from our excursion which was annoying.
We eventually pulled into a service station (10:00) and were asked to change buses to continue with the Teide tour.
When getting on the coach, our guide - Christian seemed friendly enough. On the way to Teide we had a few stops for photos. When we asked our guide about going on the cable car, he told us that the car wasn't running due to weather (note this was at 11:00). This is fair enough, we thought so carried on in the coach.
Our next stop was at Mount Teide national park (an hour free time). Great.....NOT!! We stopped at the bottom of the mountain (approx 5km from the cable cars) and were told we had about 45mins free time.
We walked round, had a coffee (and saw the cable car running). We found the tourist information spot and who confirmed the cable cars were definitely open. (This was about 12:15).
When returning to the coach (12:30). We told our guide that the cars were open and asked when we were going (the cars are quite obviously at the bottom of the mountain). We were then told that there was no time for this and that the coffee shop was as close as we were going to get to Teide.
Most of the passengers on the half day tour were very annoyed at this and when another passenger asked why we were not going to Teide itself Christian then said "Oh well, we're not getting any closer" with a disgusting attitude.
Another passenger also asked why we were not going to Teide itself and Christian said, "what's the point if you can't get up the cable car" even though he knew it was open because we'd told him.
Another point to note is that Christian told the passengers the car wasn't open at 11:00 and then later said the first test cable car wasn't sent up the mountain till 11:00. So he completely lied.
We all assumed that he only said that because the coach breaking down caused lost time and as there were other passengers on the coach who booked a Teide-Masca all day tour he did not want to be late with this.
All in all this was an awful trip that I will not be recommending to anyone. I will be asking the agent at the hotel to arrange a refund and assist me in filing an official complaint!

Dear Helen,
we are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your excursion with us.
Unfortunately a mechanical breakdown can happen and can not be predicted. The one we had on Monday during the pick up indeed caused a delay of 25 minuts, which we recompensaded quickly with the help of other buses, so that the delay only compromised the pick up but not the excursion itself.
We’ve been picking up our clients of different excursions with the same bus for years as this is the fastest way to bring everyone to the starting point (or to the park), avoiding waiste of time and doing less than 4 stops (either to pick up other people or to leave some at their final destination.
The stop we use to do at the end of the pick up, where the mentioned bus changes where made, is meant to improve the customer experience, especially from our clientes of further pick up pointes. There they have the chance to use the toilet or get a quick coffee before we make our way to the mountain. Indeed we had to speed up this process on said day due to the unforseen event happening with the bus.
Concerning your complaind regarding the cable car: To ensure the best possible experience, we have a daily reservation for our excursion clients at an appointed time, that way we can avoide hours of waiting in line but get up directly and enjoy more time on top. However the weather somedays changes quiet rapidly, causing that sometimes we get information about the cable car closing or opening very shortly before. As your guide told you, we were given the information that the cable car will not be running at the reserved time, unfortunately leading to our clients not being able to use it. Even if the cable car opened again later, after said reserved time, there were no places left and you would have had to wait in line for as long as there would have been a spot opening up. This, sadly isn't possible during an excursion with several people, because all of them would have had to wait for a long period.
Again, we’de like to state that we are very sorry that you did not enjoy your excursion and we would be glad to invite you to come with us again (for free).
Please, get in touch with us if you want to accept our invitation.
Kind regards,

We booked a 'half day' trip to Los Christianos market on Sunday from Barcelo Santiago hotel from the agent across the road. She said the trip was half a day, picking up at 8:20 then returning after the market had finished around 2pm. When the bus arrived in the morning, the very blunt Rep said we would be picked up at 6pm... we had no choice but to get on the bus as we would lose our money otherwise.
There was no information on the coach, they used the same bus for all excursions such as Siam park etc. After being on the bus for 1.5 hours (after dropping picking up lots of people) we were forced to change busses as it was overbooked. We were the only people going to the market but we were treated as extras.
It took 2 hours to travel a 30 minute journey... there was no chance anyone could stay in a small town for 9 hours, 5 hours after the market finished. The market itself was great.
There was a lack of communication between the travel agent in Santiago and the vrt travel. We ended up paying 40€ for a taxi to get back...
Would recommend going to Los Christianos - just not through VRT

Dear Customer,
we are sorry that you did not enjoy your excursion with our company.
There must have been a misunderstanding when you bought the ticket. We never had an half day excursion to Los Cristianos. For years we are selling and doing this trip the same way. Most clients want to enjoy a little more time to get to know the old city center or go shopping. We are taking notice, that unfortunately nobody informed you about the exact schedule when the booking was made. Our Comercial department will make sure to inform all selling points again so that such unfortunate incidents can be eliminated.
Kind regards
