About
This wacky building, built into a bed of hardened volcanic rock, was once home to the avant-garde eccentric Cesar Manrique.

STUNNING HOME IN THE LAVA
Mar 2019 • Couples
The architect and artist Cesar Manrique has created on Lanzarote the few places of interest to visitors seeking something other than lava, hotels and bars. His house at Taro de Tahiche is perhaps the best place to see his work, both his architectural and artistic achievements. Created in small lava caverns, it is mostly a collection of underground spaces that have been sculpted to create quite unique living spaces. There are also galleries of his artistic output, all well worth the visit. (The cactus garden at Jardin de Cactus at Guatiza and the large caves at Jameos del Agua are the other two main attractions by Cesar Manrique).

Home built into nature
Mar 2016 • Couples
It is very interesting place, Cesar Manrique - painter, sculptor, architect and town planner, had huge impact on Lanzarote, how the island looks today. He built his home on the lava fields just outside of town of Tahiche. The house is beautiful. His idea of harmony between nature and architecture is very much alive in his house. There are also Cesar's and other artists' artwork on display. There is cafe and shop on the side. it costs 8 euro for adult and it's about 8km from Arrecife.

Great Place to Live
If you ever dreamed of finding that secluded spot in the middle of nowhere to build a home, then this is it. Cesar Manrique obviously found peace here and so did we.
There weren't too many visitors when we were there (5Feb06) and we all agreed that this would be our ideal holiday home to 'kick-back', chill-out and get away from the rat race. Unfortunately, it's not for sale.
Definitely worth a visit if you want to see how those with imagination live.
