- Richard JPlymouth, United Kingdom6 contributionsThe best beach in the city. North end is the best end. This is a long beach. The southern end of the beach isn’t the best area and it gradually runs out to an area that seems more run down , which a less attractive beach. The north end of the beach is really the hub and I would recommend that any accommodation would be best at this end of the beach. There are many bars and restaurants on the front , and the market has lots of bars and tapas , just back from the main beach in the north. Having walked around the whole area and visited the old town, I would say that the beach area is the place to be, as Las Palmas centre isn’t really somewhere to stay , but worth a day trip on the local bus or by taxi. We stayed for 6 nights , but think that we would stay 3 nights here and maybe split our trip between here and Mas Palomas in the south , as the weather is better further south.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 23, 2024
- Marie A LouiseSwindon, United Kingdom122 contributionsJust the bestWe have been visiting here every year since 2012 and we have fallen in love and it really is our 2nd home. I would say this is the best city beach. Great to walk along the promenade day or night. Lovely restaurants, great base to explore the city and walking distance to the bus station.Visited December 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten May 13, 2024
- Jane2003rugbyKingston-upon-Hull, United Kingdom389 contributionsWOW WHAT A BEACH !!!!Wow what a beach, you can do everything, from surfing, volleyball, beach yoga, surf school, sunbathing & rock pooling all on the same beach ( not all at the same time !! ). There are free toilets, showers, lockers, changing rooms. This can be accessed from both the beach & the promenade. Disable friendly, ramps down onto the beach. The city center end, the sand is dry, but towards the auditorium end it is tidal so wet sand. Very clean. Lots of bars, cafes & restaurants & shops. Plenty of seats to watch the world go by.Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 14, 2024
- IngunnGRhodes Town, Greece49 contributionsLittle touristsQuiet place. Not many tourists. The beach promenade is absolutely amazing. At one end is the surfing beach and large shopping center - Las Arenas. Lots of cozy restaurants and no one trying to get you in. Mostly just Spanish people on vacation here, not so hot as far south. The beach is clean and non-smoking. Recommended - should definitely return.Visited July 2024Traveled soloWritten August 18, 2024
- Kam-HaiderLondon, United Kingdom660 contributionsLong stretch of beach not crowded very cleanBeach is huge and stretches a long way. A lot of shower stations to clean yourself. A lot of stores and restaurants. A fair amount of black sand at one end hot to walk on. Lots of activities available. Location is excellent for a morning run. As with most European beaches a number of topless women present. Weather a bit more variable hazy sunshine / windy but still warm (23-26C).Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten September 1, 2024

- Ginty B15 contributionsOur favourite city beachWe love this beach, having visited it twice now out of season. The promenade is lovely for daily walks, the ocean is great, and it's worth getting a hotel or apartment with a sea view in order to catch the sunsets. Lots of restaurants to choose from and a convenient supermarket for self catering.Visited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten October 8, 2024
- Ana Martínez6 contributionsExcellent place"I was at Las Canteras beach on a trip with my mother. It was an amazing beach that also had a beach sports area. The prices were much more reasonable than in other cities in Spain, the weather was nice, and I even managed to get a tan within just two days. I highly recommend visiting this place in early September. The city was very beautiful!!! I really liked it.Visited September 2024Traveled on businessWritten October 12, 2024

- Gamo6 contributionsPure holiday feelingOf course, a secluded beach without development is more idyllic. But here, right on the doorstep, not overrun and good 7 km long it is great! You can either walk on the promenade with endless restaurants and cafes and various, different shopping options. It's all there. Or you can stroll across the sand directly by the sea. We will always come back!Visited November 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten December 9, 2024

For a city beach this is really good - long so you can find space, clean (much cleaner than some of the tourist beaches on the south coast, I found), sunset and a soundtrack of music often coming from the pedestrian walkway next to it that it full of restaurants and cafes.
There is a reef just offshore which seemed to mean that the water is calm at lower tides but at higher tides when the sea washes over the reef more easily then you get some good waves for kids to mess about in (not too big that you are worried, but enough for some fun).
Obviously the backdrop is a built up city, so come with the right expectations.

This is a fantastic beach right by the city and which has exceptional weather all year around. It is a long beach, very popular with both locals and tourists. It is protected from the open ocean by a reef formation called La Barra (could be translated as The Bar). With low tide you can walk/swim to it. The waters and the sand are amazing.
The beach has a walk or promenade that covers its entire length (just over 3km). This walk is very popular and there is a lot of activity on it. From people walking or jogging to sands sculptures, street performances and numerous coffee shops/restaurants/bars with seating on the actual promenade. You can find local, independent shops as well as well known international food chains.
There are also many other shops, from clothes to sweets, homeware, cakes and pastries, newsagents, as well as the a large shopping centre at one end of the beach called Las Arenas, next to Alfred Kraus Auditorium. There are toilet and shower facilities across the beach (free of charge when I used them though you can leave a tip), and these include lockers as well.
There is a great atmosphere on the beach, whether you are just sunbathing or having lunch in one of the many restaurants, or a candle-lit dinner. The proximity of the beach to one of the main shopping areas in the city allows you to have a break from shopping to get a swim or sunbathe for a bit, before returning to your activities.
As the beach is so popular I would imagine it may get noisy at times, particularly in the early evening and into the early hours of the morning (especially during the weekend) but I have not stayed in any accommodation on the beach, so this is just my opinion.
I would say the beach is very well maintained, it is very well known locally and it can get very busy. It is very well-connected by public transport or by simply walking, as this part of the city is flat.

The beach at Las Palmas is clean and beautiful. There is a natural breakwater, a lave tube, which moderates the incoming waves.
All types of activities are available, as well as informal games, and sand castle building on a spectacular level (google their gigantic Christmas sand nativity scenes.)
Just on the east side of the beach is a promrnade with every kind of cafe, bakery, coffee and gelato shops.

The beach has a natural-rock wave breaker a few hundred yards out to sea...so the immediate beach area is very shallow and calm but you can see/sense the ocean waves breaking more wildly just further out to sea.
The sand is fine and there are plenty of restaurant seats along the promenade from where to sit and enjoy the view...all reasonably price and selling traditional Spanish seaside meals.

Some local guide books call this one of the worlds best beaches. The more time I spent here the more I appreciated how good this beachfront is. The first main advantage this beach has compared to many around the world is that there is no road with noisy traffic running next to the promenade. Instead it is lined with restaurants to suit all budgets and some shops. The promenade is beautifully presented. At the south end you will find surfers. At the north end you can see dramatic volcanic rock formations. The beach does face west so you get the best of the sunshine in the afternoon and some lovely sunsets. On a Sunday you will find craft stalls along the promenade and a very popular stall making a drink from sugar cane. I have enjoyed listening to some of the musical entertainment along the promenade. It is hard to believe that you are actually in a city of 400,000 residents. You can sit at one of the bars and enjoy watching the people go by or the sea views. Plenty to see and do without it feeling crowded.

I loved everything I’ve lived here for a year and it is only crowded a few weeks of the year, it’s all about coming at the right time. There are many things to do and so much beautiful sea life (I recommend coming in June if you are a tourist) the best time of year to come is may in my opinion. I have come millions of times (trip advisor forces you to say a specific month so I’m just choosing this month)

A wide sandy beach with plenty of loungers and parasols on offer at various prices - ascertain the price before sitting down as you may be ripped off as we were! Showers on beach but I didn’t see any public toilets. The boardwalk is lined with many good restaurants and bars. Busy with locals at weekends.

This many-kilometer-long golden sand beach is located right in the city center.
A promenade with numerous restaurants and bars is going all the way next to the beach. It is a very pleasant place for walking.
The southern end is very popular among surfers. You can also find Auditorio Alfredo Kraus for concerts from that end.
When we are traveling to Las Palmas, we always choose a hotel by this beach and a room with beach views. Reina Isabel, NH Imperial Playa, and Cristina Hotel are the best options.

Great beach so close to the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. There is a great promenade adjacent where you can meet people of all ages and nationalities. I find that it is particularly nice at night with the lights, the sound of the waves pounding on the beach and the various cafes, bars and restaurants along the promenade. There really is a great buzz!

This urban beach has something to please everyone - safe, calm water and a sandy beach. Lots of fun for both adults and children, including surfing, swimming, snorkling, beach tennis, children's playground and much more. There are many delightful cafés and restaurants running all along the walkway besides the beach. The mountainous views are beautiful and the sunsets incredible, this is the perfect place to match your moods, whether relaxed or energetic.

We would like to come for summer holiday to gran canaria We are trying to decide to stay in Las Canteras or playa del ingles, we would like to enjoy sea sand and around, not so expensive better budget friendly, nice weather, nice atmosphere both day and night, we will stay 40 days, what would you suggest, we would like to get ideas and recommendations for our summer holiday Thank you

We have stayed in Las Palmas several times. Travelled to the Southern resorts a few times but they are not for us. LP has a great beach and lots of eating out options. Tends to be a bit windier but has more culture. Personally we would be bored spending 40 nights in the South but if you just want sea and sand then that might be a better option. We are going to LP for the whole of February and can't wait to get some winter sun.

Qual è la differenza tra questa spiaggia e quelle del sud?
Io volevo andare ad ottobre
Written September 13, 2019
Sicuramente il clima. A Sud fa molto più caldo.
A Sud ti consiglio Playa de Amadores.
Maspalomas e playa de Ingles decisamente poco affascinanti.
Non perderti vicino Vecindario Playa de Aguadulce, Ojos de Garza e Tufia.
