Charming old town. Some museums. You can stroll here on the narrow streets. Good shopping street. Good restaurants.

After a week in the mountains of Gran Canaria, this was an enjoyable place to get used to people again, but not to stay for too long. Walk through the old streets, visit the cathedral and the market place and certainly don't forget the nice restaurants. However, this all can be done in 24 hours, even if you don't hurry.

Las Palmas is a densely populated city with not far off half a million souls. If you follow the signs to Vegueta, and park near the market, you are immediately transported to an atmospheric Spanish colonial architectural delight. Canarian cities tend to more beautiful than you imagine. The conquest of the Canary Islands began not long after the 'reconquista' of... More

We arrived early before most of the tourists and had the place almost to ourselves, just the locals walking their dogs and kids going to school, lovely place. Many photo opportunities.

We drove here in our rented car and found a huge, barrier-protected 'Park & Pay' parking area where we had no problem parking our car. We then visited its very colourful market, filled up our bags with the very fresh local fruits, chestnuts. local tomato seeds etc. Such a vibrant market - really interesting, even for just a visit. The... More

Great area for history buffs ( dates back 5 centuries & was visited by Christopher Columbus ) beautiful architecture / museums & the best for eating & drinking ! Don't miss the great food market with bars around for local flavour ! Not too touristy & well worth a browse !

Any visit to Gran Canaria would benefit from a visit to the old part of Las Palmas, with its winding streets, Canarian architecture, beautiful churches and active street life. It is compact and most of the attractions on offer can be appreciated in a half day

Canarian Museum is probably interesting but all of the exhibits only have narrative in Spanish so hard to get the most out of the visit if you don't speak Spanish Lots... More

Centrally located, this is a beautiful neighbourhood to walk around, whatever the weather or time of day. It has really interesting, colourful buildings on just about every street.
