Best concert hall in the world.
Jan 2020
THis is my favourite concert hall among all those I have visited - which include Carneigie, Royal Festival, Albert, Vienna Musikverein, Concertgebouw, Geneva Victoria Hall, Valencia. No bad seats. Great acoustic. Excellent seat prices and reductions for retired people. Superb classical concerts from a first rate local orchestra as well as a magnificent festival attracting international stars such as Lang Lang, Murray Perahia, Juan Diego Florez etc. And you can walk to it along the beach! The crowning glory of a magnificent island. (Look at Teatro Perez Galdos as well....)

Of course, the place is about CONCERTS (they also do pop and jazz) but if your visit is too short a guided tour is worthwhile, interesting and well done. Of course, you have to have an interest in such things or an open mind, but the guides make it all very accessible and pleasant.

Weihnachtssymphonie mit Christina Ramos
Dec 2019 • Couples
The star celebrity of the British show of talents Christina Ramos gave her debut for Xmas in this auditorium.
She absolutely gorgeous and brilliant singer and entertainer! The orchestra played brillant with a very warm atmosphere and all the other singers tributed their professionality .
It was an evening with 2.30 hours without any pause one of the best nights ever this year 2019 on Gran Canaria. The Auditorium Kraus is architectural and music professional an outstanding building . Strongly recommend also for tourists to change some hours from beach to the capital Las Palmas.

Utter waste of time to do the guided tour
Mar 2019 • Friends
The building is really nice from the outside, but the guided tour is uninteresting and a waste of time.

Breathtaking
Jan 2019 • Couples
I was able to book a short tour (30 minutes) at short notice inside the auditorium and the guide was most accommodating. I just turned up ( it was a Sunday so the box office was not open) and she was helpful .

She explained the ethos behind the architecture and all the work that had gone into the building. Very knowledgable. I had seen the outside of the auditorium many times - it is most impressive, particularly at night as a 'sentry' for Las Palmas . The inside does not disappoint.

I was only sorry that it was my last day in Las Palmas as I would really have loved to have the experience of going there for a concert. Make it a priority !!!

Christmas concert
Dec 2018 • Couples
This concert hall was built in 1997 and resembles a lighthouse at the southern end of Las Canteras beach.

We have many times tried to get tickets here. This time we managed to get Christmas concert tickets for 10 euros each. It was a charity concert 'Villancicos del Mundo' for Casa de Galicia.

The concert was very enjoyable, although in the first part, we nearly dropped our ears when it came a song 'Vem kan segla förutan vind?' in Swedish. It is not a Christmas song but a folk song from Åland and well-known here in Finland.

The auditorium has excellent acoustics and every seat has good visibility.

Impressive modern building
Nov 2018 • Couples
Only saw outside as we walked south the length of Playa Las Canteras beach. Quite dramatic castle-like appearance, surrounded by unusual cactuoplanting.

Wonderful auditorium
Nov 2018 • Couples
We had booked from the UK to attend a concert in this wonderful modern auditorium as we always try to visit somewhere like this when staying abroad. The concert by local musicians was to commemorate Alfredo Kraus, a local tenor who was clearly much loved and in whose memory the concert hall has been built. A senior moment meant that one of us had forgotten to bring our printed booking confirmation form, but the enormously helpful young woman at the box office tracked down and printed duplicate tickets, we enjoyed champagne and nibbles in the bar before the concert and then quietly watched the very mixed audience fill the vast space.
The accoustics were wonderful, the sound engineers (I am in theatre business) truly excellent and as emotions began to run high and the two tenor soloists got ever more passionately into their songs, the audience became more and more engaged. It was a very memorable evening. Outside, Christmas decorations filled the area where the sports arenas and other outlets are all grouped, an easy taxi back to our hotel and a good supper overlooking the beach made it all a rather memorable evening. I recommend a visit to this place almost regardless of what's on.

Intriguing building - and interesting
Sep 2018 • Couples
Sunday 23rd September and we were in Las Palmas exploring as we walked along the promenade it was impossible not to see this intriguing building, had no idea what it was, so we went to investigate.

The building was designed to look like half fortress and half lighthouse, a strange mixture but made the building interesting. There is a very large window which gets open so that the acoustics of the theatre can be enjoyed along with the spectacular backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean.

There are 2 buildings, the Auditorium and the Palacio Congresso. We did not enter the building as there was a performance in progress, this did not stop us enjoying from the outside.

In front of the Auditorium is a large water feature/fountain. Also nearby is a very large statue of Alfredo Kraus

A large and strange building
May 2017 • Couples
The Auditorium of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is named Alfredo Kraus – a tribute brought to the great Canarian tenor, who make the delight of international audience for many years.
This building is designes by the architect Oscar Tusquets, raised on a volcanic rock like a fortress with a lighthouse.
The Auditorium is situated at the end of Playa de Las Canteras, and is a landmark of Las Palmas.
In front of the building is a big monument of Alfredo Kraus.
Also here is the headquarters of the philarmonic of Las Palmas.
