This wonderful corner it is one of the angles of the old part of Las palmas de Gran canaria. Beautiful environment, beautiful buildings and nice coffee shops and restaurants around. Quite close to a big open commercial area. Charming.

A wonderful square dominated by splendid buildings from the 19th century and shadowed by palm trees. Restaurants and cafés have terraces that invite for staying and enjoying both atmosphere and the food and drink.

The square is dominated by the impressive Gabinete Literario, but is also bordered by other attractive buildings including the Hotel Madrid. Near the Hotel Madrid is a bust of Cairasco which is on a large plinth with water bowls, popular with the pigeons, and is surrounded by flower beds. The square contains several stately palm trees as well as some smaller trees and shrubs.

I made a special visit to this square as I like architecture and I waned to see Gabinete Literario, which was my favourite building in Las Palmas. It's now a private club so I didn't go inside but the elegant façade was stunning.

Also in the square is Hotel Madrid, with it's yellow façade. which is reputedly where General Franco stayed and planned the coup which started the Spanish Civil War. I ate lunch at the hotel sitting in one of its outdoor tables, the food was ok. The ambience was nice with a street performer playing music.

The square is in the Triana part of Las Palmas, if you like beautiful buildings or fancy seeing the infamous Hotel Madrid it's worth visiting.

Plaza de Cairasco is situated at the end of Calle Triana to Vegueta. Here we can find a monumental palace of Gabinete Literario, Hotel Madrid, and the monument of A.Cairasco, from where came the name of the square.
Take a coffee from the bar Casa Madrid, and you'll have a beutiful time to admire this quiet corner of Las Palmas.

Lovely square to sit for a while, enjoy a coffee and breathe in the local atmosphere. Very pleasant, but not a must-see.

This square boasts a number of bars and restaurants nearby. It is the perfect place to meet up with your mates for a tapa or just a drink. The Literary Club (pictured) offers sumptuous banquet halls (Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard sure liked them) and a terrace where you can have a lovely lunch at a reasonable rate. In fact, this square itself is most picturesque with its gushing fountain, palms and bird song.
