- SK Y1 contributionWonder, Respect for nature, water is life.Very nice beach, when there is low tide you can visit it in its entirety. The path to reach it is very beautiful and suggestive, exciting views. It is a very challenging route completely exposed to the sun: It took them 2 and a half hours on the way and 3 hours on the way back taking a few short breaks and stopping to observe the view. We are not particularly trained, but anyway I doubt you can reach the beach in less than two hours, it is about 5 km between descent and ascent. Indispensable hiking shoes and flip-flops or sandals to wear once on the beach, sunscreen, bag for your own waste, comfortable clothes, cap, lots of water, food. I would suggest first of all to have a delicious breakfast and hydrate before the walk, Recommendation to bring along foods not too sweet or too salty because the thirst will be so much! It wouldn't be a bad idea to pack some vegetables and fruits for hydration on the beach and bars for your return. Choose well what to put in the backpack: avoid weighing it down unnecessarily, the lighter you will be the better. If you have the chance, put a flashlight in your backpack in case you face the return in low light, just in case! However, the ideal is to plan to walk for the return 2-3 hours before sunset, while the outward journey is recommended to start at dawn, when the sun is not yet strong. Speaking of sun, we also had a small light umbrella which was very useful to us in the afternoon, so there was no more shade on the beach. However, the umbrella is a luxury that you could give up if the sun on the beach does not disturb you. As I read in other reviews, I confirm that about 300 meters from the beach there is a small house and there you could take some water from a fountain, but I think you can not be 100% certain that you can have this opportunity, so it is good to bring at least a couple of liters each. Take into account the fact that you will need water on the way back, more challenging than the outward. I wish you a good path and a good beach :)Visited August 2024Traveled with friendsWritten August 5, 2024
- LYDIE M28 contributionsSuper Hiking with family! 👍Very nice hike to do if you come to the island but difficult enough for people who are not used to it. We took 2h30 with 2 children 9 and 6 years old to go and we started the hike at 8am to avoid the heat. The return lasted as long with the added sweltering heat at the end of the day. Very nice experience in spite of everything with reward a huge and little visited beach!Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 28, 2024
- Adrián N1 contributionA hard experience with good rewardThe first thing to keep in mind is that it’s a pretty tough route, and even more so with heat. In our case we were 3 young people of 26 years old, used to play sports 2-3 times a week minimum, and yet it got tough. It took about 3 hours to get to the beach because we were ill equipped and about 2 hours to return (the walk back is slightly easier and less steep). Now the beach is spectacular. When we went there were only 7 more people and the place is beautiful. A highly recommended experience but, of course, wear good mountain shoes, sporty and fresh clothes, and plenty of water and food. Apart from a very nice lady who sells Cokes in her shanty there is no human trace. There's no cover for it.Visited September 2024Traveled with friendsWritten September 8, 2024

In our case we were 3 young people of 26 years old, used to play sports 2-3 times a week minimum, and yet it got tough (Seeing reviews we thought it was more a hike than going up and down a mountain). It took about 3 hours to get to the beach because we were ill equipped and about 2 hours to return (the walk back is slightly easier and less steep). Now the beach is spectacular. - gelomadrid16Madrid, Spain31 contributionsSpectacular and breathtaking sceneryIn the last year and a half I have been four times, once from Tasartico and three times from the Village, and always going back and forth on different paths. It is quite an adventure, but it is not a simple walk to a beach. It should be considered a mountain march and quite hard. There is not a shadow on the way back or forth. There have already been several heat stroke deaths. And what's strange is that no more accidents happen, seeing how many people are doing. With beach flip-flops, almost without water, I have even seen them with large portable beach fridges. And so if you start from Taskartic at the beginning is the badge of a civil guard who died looking for a person who was lost. But even that doesn't seem to make many think. It is a spectacular place and will never be forgotten, but I repeat that it is a mountain march and very hard, whether you start in Tasartico or if you start from the Village (which increases the distance and is even more spectacular).Visited June 2024Traveled soloWritten January 1, 2025

The saying goes, “if it doesn’t kill you, it’ll make you stronger”. This hike is challenging and the room for error is slim in some places so I say that to say this. If you are fit and love a challenge then this is for you.
I just did this hike yesterday so want to share while everything is fresh in my mind.
I recommend hiking sticks, but you can do without, have plenty of water, and try to start the hike early. I got there around 8am. Take five minutes to stretch and loosen up your joints and ligaments. I’m 46 , a fitness instructor and I was surprised how fast the first 10 minutes into the climb up had my heart pumping and sweat dripping. 20 minutes into the climb, I turned around and was amazed by how far below the starting point was and a bit overwhelmed because this is when the hike gets steep.
The views are spectacular! I mean panoramic glorious, of mountains, giant cactuses and the serene silence makes for a great meditative experience. But keep focus, these mountains are craggy, loose pebbles scatter the path, no trees to provide shade so you are constantly exposed to the sun. Large brimmed hat to keep cool is suggested.
The reward for this tumultuous adventure was my first black sand beach with imposing cliffs looming over head to gawk at. I mean, wow! I’ve never seen such a spectacular contrast of liquid and land converge that complimented each other is why I gave this place a 5 star rating.
It’s a nude beach, which was my first experience also. I took ample amount of time to swim in the crystal clear water to cool off. Bring thick bottom sandals, the sand is scorching! It felt like walking across tiny hot coals that burned my feet and in between my toes. Bring a protein rich lunch with you. Enjoy it while you sun bathe. Give time to let food digest. Pack up your belongings because the trek back awaits and it’s a bitch!

Great natural black sand beach with clear water. Nice to swim, but there were some waves, but no rocks. Great to be in a natural and more private beach compared to puerto rico ect.
There are a few parking spaces and a trip description/map in Tasartico.
We used 1 h and 45 min each way, and it is quite steep and a bit slippery descend due to rocks/gravel/sand. Would reccomend shoes with good grip and 2 l water, or more if you go during the summer.
Close to the beach there are four cats that would love some food ❤️

Nice beach, took us allmost 2 hours to travel over the mountain but was 100% worth it.
Need to brint food and water with you, cause there is no place to get drinking water. Up to now it was best beach on the island (we havent visited every beach yet)

So you climb more or less 350 m and go down 550. Then climb 550 m snd down 350 m , slippery but in november not too hot. Park the car where the path begins. Water when you get the beach, bar closed. That’s all. Problem is does it work to spend one day to drive there and more or less 4 hours trekking to get a beach nice but not unforgettable.?
For me not , we like trekking and we stay fit but if you have just a week of holiday try to do something better. I mean i will make trekking in italy i have time. But if you combine all , beach and trekking ok.
Last thing more than 25 people there so no a private beach…

My family and I just did this hike today and I will never do it again. The views are breathtaking but you can see many breathtaking views all over the island. The hike is very difficult and risky if not properly prepared or if you don’t have the physical level for it. It took us about 4 hours each way (over 15 kilometers walking) and in our case… full sun. The information and other reviews we read made it seem doable. NOT a hike for kids or senior citizens in my opinion. We were told it was 4 km and there was a place to buy water. No such luck. I’m 55 years old and thought I was gonna die! The trail is rocky, uneven, no real place to rest along the way and it’s easy to slide. If you go, start early, take plenty of water, hat, snacks, candies. For me, absolutely not worth it. Lots of other beaches just as nice and so much easier to reach.

a paradisiacal place and landscape that deserves respect, consideration and our protection. the way there requires condition, solid footwear and surefootedness. You should not be afraid of heights. I wish that it is natural to leave nothing behind in nature, even fruit peelings and food scraps and all kinds of paper belong in the waste bag! I now collect everything possible as far as it is possible for me to take with me. my small thanks to the beautiful nature that gives us so much beauty unconditionally. ❤️

First of all, not everyone can do this walk to the beach, mostly because of high temperatures. Me and my boyfriend hike a lot, and it was difficult for us. If going, take enough water (we had 6 litres). But walk wasn’t as bad as the disappointment when we arrived at the beach. There were many tents, waste was everywhere over the place. It is absolutely not a virgin, untouched beach, as people are saying. Due to high tide, we couldn’t reach guigui-chico, probably nicest place than this one. If you really want to visit a similar beautiful black sand beach, with only 10 min walk, we recommend you Guayedra.

This is NOT easy! However, the walk itself is worth every ache, views are quite breath taking. Beach itself is 'nice' but don't expect seclusion - this is a tourist attraction. Advice would be to wear good shoes, the paths are precarious, there are extremely sheer drops and the tiny gravel makes it very slippery. If, like me, you suffer from a fear of heights and vertigo, be prepared for moments of total terror, take lots of water, don't underestimate the difficulty, and make sure you stop at the house that sells lemonade - it's delicious. With a reasonable level of fitness allow about 2.5 hours each way. I am in my fifties but run 5-10k 4 times a week. It took us just under 2 hours on the way there and 2.5 hours on the way back.

An amazing walk along a spectacular track. The views are stunning throughout and the section of track just over the pass on the way out, is incredible. We are a late fifties couple with some walking experience but only standard recreational gear. Our timings were - left hotel in Maspalomas area 08:15, parked at start of trail 09:30. Top of pass 10:25, beach 11:20. Left beach 12:30 back at car 14:45. If you are not sure about this walk, time yourself to the top of the pass. If you can make it in under 90 mins you should be fine but if it takes you 2 hours, turn back!

It is a 2 hour hike from the parking lot. You climb from 0 to cca. 600m of altitude and the hike is about 4.8 km long. The scenery is amazing and the beach is just perfect. Black sands and black stones with very few people... Definitely worthy of your time ;)

Would this hike be reasonable to do with a 7 month old 8 kilo baby? We're fit enough solo, but is there any scaling or climbing that would be dangerous in a front wearing baby carrier? We've booked a last minute flight to Gran Canaria, but we're looking for a less packaged experience. Thanks!!
Written October 6, 2017
It is not impossible if you carry your child on the back, but I wouldn't recommend it. Some parts of the path are somewhat steep and all hike is in the sun. No shades.
