Called the only coffee plantasion in Europa -hmm my geography doesn’t include this to Europa :) but a nice activity to do as there is not that much in Gran Canary island. There is no signs just trust and drive through the village of San Pedro, after the cetral square there is a bridge to the right. First comes the coffee plantasion in the right and a 100 m later the winery to the left

We were on a bus trip thru the Valle de Agaete when we stopped in to visit the Finca La Laja coffee plantation and wine celler. This farm has been in the family for over 200 years. They grow grapes, coffee plants, oranges, mangos, avacados, and guavas. Very interesting place ! Had a complete tour of the farm which was fascinating. We got to taste some really good oranges and later some very rich coffee. The Agaete Valley on the Canarie Islands has the only coffee plantation in Europe. We got to taste the wines of the most prized wine cellers in the Canaries. This special place was well worth the time.

My friends from Gran Canaria drive me to Agaete today and I was very impressed; it is my favourite place in Gran Canaria so far. I really liked the natural pools, the water was quite warm and very clean! We even saw some crabs! The rocks are volcanic and the views are absolutely stunning! We walked around the town and it was very quiet, we had a lovely day! The walk from the town to the pools was easy and very pretty! It is a little bit windy but still warm. The best place to park is a sand parking really close to the Dedo de Dios restaurant, it's only 2€ for the whole day.

Agaete and its valley are at the north western "corner" of Gran Canaria and consequently quite a long way from the main tourist areas. The access roads via Telde/Las Palmas are, however, excellent and it need take no more than 1.5 hrs from, say, Puerto Rico on the motorway. The other road, round the cliffs, via San Nicolás, is not for the faint-hearted, though there are fantastic sea views from a few stopping points on the extremely winding, though good road along the cliff face. A few tunnels are due to ease the pain in the next few years. Once in the small village of Agaete, people usually make for Puerto de las Nieves, a little fishing port, with numerous fish restaurants and their terraces, a nice promenade and a view of those magnificent jagged cliffs, For a different experience, there is a new hotel called Roca Negra with sea views, gardens, pool, spa and good food just up the road past the cemetery at El Turmán and from it there is a 10 minute walk - fairly steep - down to las Nieves. There are a couple more hotels there, too. To get to the Valley (Valle) of Agaete you go through the village (have a look at the flower garden "Huerta de Flores") and you will be rewarded with a broad valley, growing everything from oranges to coffee, with pine-topped mountains on your right. Sadly, the two best places for refreshment are currently closed, but there is a restaurant about half way up. There is no through road so when you get to the end there is room to turn round, admire the views and return.

Came up to Agaete via the coastal road from Aldea de San Nicolas and this route is not for the feint hearted! Fantastic views of the rugged coast but very narrow in places with massive drop-offs and crazy local drivers. Driving up the valley from Agaete is easy, although the road is very narrow. There is a view point near the end of the road which made a great place for our picnic lunch. Very attractive scenery. There are walking tracks up the valley and although we didn’t have time to explore them, it did look to be a fantastic area for walking. To us, this was a better place to visit than the Guayadeque ravine.

Decided to do some sightseeing one day due to cloudy weather during our stay in Galdar.
Was recommended by a local resident.
Finca la laja is a winery and coffee farm situated a slow 25 minute drive from Galdar. We were greeted by friendly staff who offered us a tour of the winery with snacks and a wine tasting for a very reasonable €8.. We found the short tour very interesting and informative and afterwards we were led to an outside restauraunt terrace. We were served with a generous sample of white wine and snacks of dry rye bread, coffee marmalade (delicious for coffee lovers like me) local cheese and homemade cake. 2nd generous sample of wine arrived and snacks topped up. This continued for around an hour with 3 more wine tastings and snacks.. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful throughout. There's also a small shop selling the wine you've sampled laid out in the same order which they were served. And of course I had to buy a bottle and a couple of jars of the coffee marmalade which helps to kick start me before work now I'm back in the UK..
Excellent value for money if you're in the area and have a couple of hours to pass..
Would go back again even if only for the wine and light lunch..lol

Agaete as a place is nothing which has to be seen. You can stroll across the village for 10 minutes and you have seen it all. But: it is an iron must to drive up the VALLE DE AGAETE!
Agaete village is dry and quite ugly in my opinion. Just a few kilometers inland you can hardly believe what you will see. It is GREEN, full of fruit plantations and flowers! It is well worth driving up all the way until the street ends. You will find your peace here, while in Agaete village and Hotel Roca Negra you will never be alone.

A visit to Finca Los Berrazales in the outskirts of San Pedro, near Agaete, is something I highly recommend. You will be shoved around the beautiful grounds where they grow vines, oranges, guava, coffee and many other things. They also told us the farm's history. Then we were offered to taste the fruits and the red and white wines as well as their own coffee. It was a visit that made me happy and at a very low price €6 in December 2014. The semi dry white was our favourite.
