After Las Palmas and it's traffic and noise this was a welcome visit. The parish church is like a reverse tardis. It is huge, grey and foreboding. Inside it seems much smaller. It is NOT a cathedral, as many people think but a parish church...More

Surprisingly handsome traffic free town centre, surrounding an uncharacteristicly grey cathedral. This huge church, built in the early years of the last century is grey and austere, whilst the streets around it are the more common whitewash, and this contrast, together with the general peaceful...More

It was not in our list of places to visit, however while going to Firgas we noticed the big cathedral from the motorway so we opted to stop for quick visit. It was worth it.

Arucas is a little village inland, accessed from the north, and it has an amazing church of cathedral-sized proportions. Those who have visited the Sagrada Familia in barcelona will notice similarities. What a hidden gem! We loved it.
