About
They are based in Arinaga, as this is where most of the best dive sites in Gran Canaria can be found. They are based in Casa Limon, a spacious, relaxed property with a large garden where you can relax as you prepare your kit, and relax in style between and after your dives. The underwater landscape in Arinaga is dramatic and varied and is rated as one of the best places to dive in the Canaries because of the variety and volume of marine life you can encounter. You can swim through arches, explore caves, or seek out creatures such as angel sharks, rays, morays, barracudas, sea-horses and much more. The waters are sub-tropical which means that many of the fish are brightly coloured, and diving takes place all year round. This PADI 5-star Dive centre won the PADI Outstanding Achievement award in 2018, and the shallower dives sites are excellent for PADI Training courses from snorkeling, through discover dives (try-dives) up to PADI Open Water and PADI Advanced Open Water Courses.

I had a great time diving one day in June with Alejandro, Brian and Hector from Davy Jones Diving in the El Cabrón Marine Reserve in Arinaga, Gran Canaria. We saw so many sea creatures - including rays, octopus, moray eels, arrow crabs, shrimp, and countless varieties of fish.
As a solo diver, the team at Davy Jones looked after me and made me feel safe and welcome. My only regret is that I should have requested a larger tank as my air consumption wasn't very good on the day. I only dived for one day (2 dives total), so I would recommend going for two days or more in order to see more of the El Cabrón Marine Reserve.
This was my second time diving with Davy Jones Diving, and I recommend them if visiting Gran Canaria. I hope to return soon.

It‘s my third time on Gran Canaria and like the two times before I‘ve been diving with Davy Jones Diving.
What brings me back to this dive company again and again are the friendly, professional and experienced instructors. This time I went diving with Brett, Peter and instructor-in-training Kait. After three years of not diving, diving with them felt great, I felt I was safe and all of the three made this a great day.
Also, the three just know the El Cabron national marine reserve very well and I had two fascinating dives with angel sharks, a crab chasing octopus, a huge ray, a seahorse, ... and so much more.
I can‘t do more than just recommend recommend recommend this diving company to both people interested in becoming a diver and advanced divers as Davy Jones Diving staff is taking care of your individual needs and interests.
As this is my third time with them, I speak of my own experience from when I wasn‘t that an experienced diver until today with much more of diving experience.
Apart from being a great team, there is a some sort of a bakery store where you can get freshly prepared sandwiches for between the dives or after your dives. Simply delicious!
I‘ll add pictures to this review as soon as I get home. :-)

Hi Simon,
Thanks for taking the time to recount your experiences. It was nice to see you again, like so many, after 2 years of COVID. We have missed many of our regulars, so it is nice to see you again.
The seasons are just turning so at the moment we have some end of summer species such as Triggerfish, and some early winter such as Angel Sharks, so there is lots to see at the moment.
Hope to see you again next year!
Best wishes, Brian

After 5 months of Working from home when normally I travelled extensively for work, my mental health needed a boost. I chose to go to Davy Jones because experience told me they would deliver. I learnt to dive here 9 years ago and the staff (many of whom are the same), cannot do enough for their guests.
They collect from resorts or if like me you only want to dive, they arrange local accommodation. Their premises include a beautiful outdoor courtyard so social distancing was easy, and the diving as always was superb.
The diving is on a marine reserve and it certainly deserves the recognition, every dive delivers

After 5 months with very few customers it has been a delight for us to welcome you and other guests back to the centre.
I am glad you enjoyed your stay with us again, and as you say, with our large private garden and courtyard we can implement a series of strong but not oppressive COVID protocols.
We did well on the dives seeing many unusual creatures, lots of octopus, cuttlefish, morays and bream, and specials such as the Thor Shrimps, Slipper Lobster, Butterfly Ray, the Whelks eggs, and of course the Hairy Blenny, right at the end of the last dive.
And when travel restrictions ease then of course we will be delighted to see you again!

Just back from a week’s diving with Davy Jones Diving. Brian and the team were very helpful and knowledgeable about the dive sites and wildlife in the El Cabrón Marine Reserve. As mentioned in the last two reviews, the highlight for me was the night dive, the angel shark was less than 0.5metre from me, it was so close I even managed to get a close up photo of the isopods hitching a ride on it’s back. Thanks for a great week’s diving.

Hi,
Thanks for the comments, I am glad you enjoyed the week as well. I hope you got some more good photos as well as the one of the angel shark... he must have been attracted either by the noise of our bubbles or by all the lights we had! I don't know if you saw earlier in the dive when the small round ray swam up to me and then right under me!
Anyway I am glad that you enjoyed your week with us in Gran Canaria!

I have visited Gran Canaria every summer for the last 10 years. It's normally my only chance to dive and I have always had great experiences with Davy Jones Diving. Their knowledge of the El Cabrón reserve is second to none.
This year I was delighted to visit with my son (15) who had just completed his Open Water (OWD) Course. My eldest son had done a Bubblemaker course with Davy Jones several years before so I knew the younger one would be in good hands! We dived over several days with Davy Jones and from start to finish it was perfect. Brian, Eduardo and the team took great care of him. He loved every minute of the diving and with the great attention and guidance from Brian, Eduardo and the team I saw him grow in confidence under the water. An unforgettable experience!
I highly recommend Davy Jones for both beginners and more experience divers.

A few days ago I did my Scuba Diving Course at Davy Jones and it was definitely worth it.
A couple of communication hiccups with the owner Brian could be easily sorted out, since he’s a lovely gentleman who really cares for his customers to have a safe and fun experience (but: I found out on spot that a dive would be rescheduled instead of getting an email, another day I waited 24 hours for arrangements about my book, they forgot to mention the price for the book so I had to pay 50€ extra unexpectedly). Actually 4,5 stars for this. But I am sure they will work on communication to get better.
The atmosphere at the center is laid back and friendly. You should take some waiting into account, since the team needs to coordinate (successfully in my case) a number of small groups with different schedules and needs.
My tutor was Brett, who had a very direct and practical way of transmitting knowledge and skills which I found very effective. In the water I felt 100% safe with him. Both the skill practice and the actual dives were relaxed and fun, at the same time I felt that the matter was taken seriously.
On that day there was a shark sighting, sadly I was not among the lucky ones! Still I was able to see razor fish, trumpet fish, octopus, scorpion fish, cuttlefish and parrot fish among others.
Thanks to Davy Jones I really loved my first diving experience and will definitely try to complete my Open Water Diver as soon as possible!

Hi, thanks for taking the time to make such a frank and yet balanced reply. Yes, hands up, we did make a couple of admin mistakes, and I have already changed our emails so we are more transparent about the cost of PADI training materials.
However I am delighted to hear that Brett looked after you and gave you his personal attention and support while you were in the water. Sounds like you still saw lots in the sea!
Yes, now you know what it is like underwater, don't wait too long to get your 'gills' so you can swim underwater like a superhero!
Best wishes

Davy Jones Diving is definitely the best choice if you are looking for awesome dives in the el cabron nature reserve with a professional and friendly team. I felt very safe during my immersions. Brian and Brett are great underwater and will surely help you with all you need. I highly recommend this dive shop for everyone who is looking for dives in this area.

Hello Hyeunji !
I am glad you enjoyed the diving here with us, you were lucky to see so many rays and of course we had an excellent night dive! El Cabrón is a great area to dive in with lots of different dive routes and I am glad we could show some to you.

After almost 3 years on the island I was successful in finding a dive centre I felt followed the rules and I could trust, that was 2011.
Recently I participated in my 700th dive and the whole team were there in support, celebrating with me.
Corners are NEVER CUT, equipment is checked, briefing before leaving centre, briefing at dive location, buddy checks, followed by support throughout dive.
Oh! I'm 77 with a military background and looking forward to many more dives with "DavyJones Arinaga". THE TEAM.
My sincere thanks to all for a continuing living experience.

Hi Colin,
We all really enjoyed your special day, and the 680+dives that you did with us over the last ten years. Thanks for the glowing review, and let's hope we both keep diving and enjoying the amazing marine life here for at least several years to come.

Just returned from a week diving with Brian's outfit. Had a great week the highlight for me a night dive where we saw angel sharks, rays, sea hare, sand anemone and lots of others. Brian is very knowledgeable about the local marine wildlife and is also a keen photographer - see example pictures on the website. Our only caution to folks is that access to some of the sites at El Cabron can be quite challenging - the team were really helpful but you do need to be fit enough to get into, and out of, some of the sites if the conditions are windy. However, we are quite experienced and I am sure the team would moderate the dives for less experienced customers. Many thanks for a great week.

Hi Clive,
Thanks for your review, and I am glad that your group all enjoyed the dives. Yes we did have some rather unusual weather conditions partly from the East which surprised us all and made some of the exit points more tricky. However as you say the highlight of the week was the night dive, being greeted almost straight away by that eagle ray ...
Best wishes .. Brian

My partner and I did 2 days of diving with Davy Jones Diving and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The team are very professional, helpful and experienced. The equipment is of high quality and, together with the team, you feel in safe hands. The dive centre is extremely close to El Cabron marine reserve meaning less travel time and ability to relax / use facilities in between dives. In terms of the dive sites, there is an opportunity to see a wide variety of marine life. I would thoroughly recommend.

Hi! I'm looking at doing my OWD in December, if you're available how much of a deposit would be required to do the online part at home before I come?
Written July 5, 2017
Hi, yes we are open all year round, so December will be fine. We do not require any deposit ourselves, but if you choose to do the PADI e-learning then the price is around €130 per person, and you can sign up using the link in the blue box on the left of our website (where you will find the exact current prices)
Hope this answers your questions,

Hi, I am coming for a week in mid-November and would like to do a couple of wreck dives (Advanced plus Deep specialty with 200 dives logged). Please can you let me know;
i) How often you arrange wreck dives,
ii) How do you ge to the locations - from boat via your base or from a boat more locally to the wreck?
iii) How cold is the water likely to be in mid-November (I only have a 3mm shorty!).
Many thanks,
Peter
Written October 12, 2016
Hello Peter,
Thanks for the questions. During November we are currently fully booked for the weeks commencing 7th and 14th November. After that we will probably only do one or two days of wreck diving in Las Palmas or Mogan as most people come to us to explore the Marine Reserve. For all the wreck dives we work with other centres close to the wrecks.. so we drive the majority of the way in the minibus, and then ride out to the wrecks by RIB.
I think a 3mm Shorty will be far too cold. We use 6-7mm long suits all year round.
I hope this answers your questions,
Brian

How many days for an open water padi course from scratch? And how many days if my son does the preliminaries in UK and gets a referral certificate? I am trying to organise this for him for a 4 or 5 night short break but need to link it all in in November.
Written September 15, 2016
Hi Linda,
The normal full course is four days, but if your son does the work in the pool, then we have 'Go-Warm' which is the four Open Water dives over just two days. For this he just needs the standard PADI Referral document. There is a lot more detail of the course content on our website.
Written September 16, 2016
Can we pre book and how much is it
Written August 10, 2015
Hi Sue, Yes, in fact most people pre-book to guarantee a place. To take a beginners introductory dive, looked after by the instructor, who will then point out all the hidden marine life, the price is €85 per person. You can get a lot more detail from our website including the prices of PADI Courses and prices for divers with a qualification, and there is also a booking form on the website.. You can also book by ringing on (0034) 699721584 or by sending an email to the address on the website.
Best wishes

Hi, is this suitable for children.. If so, from what age?
Thanks
Pete
Written August 8, 2015
Hi Pete, yes this is great fun for children and as they grow older they can take more challenging activities and get to see more and more of the marine life. We take children from 8 years of age on Snorkelling excursions in very calm waters where there is still plenty to see, and if the children are physically well developed, from about 9 on the 'Bubblemaker', an easy introductory programme to diving with a tank in very shallow water. From 10, children can get more involved and do either the daycourse or if they really want to get a qualification, then the PADI Junior Scuba Diver or the PADI junior Open Water. from 15 they are treated the same as adults, and under the watchful eyes of our instructors can dive to a maximum of 18m where there is a great chance to see angel sharks, rays and moray eels.
At the moment in summer we seem to have under 15's with us on most days, so the team are very experienced at making sure the messages are understood, and that close levels of supervision are always in place.
Hope this answers your questions
