We asked Valentine for a bespoke tour, requesting a few must-haves, which he incorporated. And then he added some amazing visits en route to villages, parks and restaurants that you would never find yourself. First stop was for coffee, and we thought that we would be walking to a local bar for a coffee, but better than that, Valentine opened the rear of the clean, comfortable minibus, to reveal his own little coffee bar! All four of us on the trip couldn't rate the day highly enough. I think you would be hard-pushed to find a better tour, certainly on La Gomera.

We have visited this village in the past and enjoyed meals on the seafront. Unfortunately at present I can't recommend it because rebuilding work in the promenade has been going on for 17 months and looks set to continue into next year. Sadly with the sea breeze there was a taste of dust in the air which spoilt our meal and the view. There are, however other attractions available from here such as whale watching which are still worth doing

We stay at Jardin Tecina Hotel on top of the cliff. Playa Santiago is the first place we visit when staying in this glorious place, The beach is shingle and rocky. Nice restaurants and bars - very natural harbour (Great to watch the fish catches). Nothing posh or OTT, just a "real place" to relax and enjoy a totally different Canary Island. Long may it stay that way, Lovely craft shop with handmade jewellery on the edge of the beach. Class gifts and knowledgeable Owners. So special, going back in December.

At time of wriitng the promenade is in the process of renovation and the feel is not good. Also, half the restaurants were closed - some on holiday and some plain broke. It is not really a tourist town . only come if you just want to chill.
