Be sure to take some hikes through the park while visiting the island. It truly is a great experience walking through the mystical, foggy or cloudy laurel forest, with the moss-covered trees. I think that the northern part is a bit more foggy, so the trees will be more covered with moss. There are several different hikes for all levels and distances. Info is available on line or at the tourist info centers. Be sure to check the weather and dress appropriately.

Choosing in advance the path that suits your needs is fundamental, each being different from the other. There are plenty of them to meet all expectations, I would say. Just inquire first at the official page of the Park, very detailed, and you have all the various routes available, in order to evaluate difficulties, travel times, average altitude gain and anything else to enter in total safety. Amazement and fun are virtually assured, and the "effort" well paid off.
No need to book anything. Just arrive well organized, especially with suitable clothing and sufficient kinds of comfort, to fully enjoy this charming place and its surroundings.
Alone worth the trip to the island!!!

Take in as much oxygen that you can during the many walks through the woods. Stop at the miradors along the way to take some great shots of the views. Pick your walks carefully based on your hiking skills and bring the bare necessary

We hiked in the beautiful national park of Garajonay.
The pleasant path led us to the foot of the fine El Cedro waterfall, which is the highest waterfall in La Gomera island. We saw that the the primary forest was preserved in the national park with many beautiful flowwers. We made a short stop at the little chapel of Lourdes before plunging into the laurels and heather trees!!!
A pleasant hike!

Really spectacular volcanic vistas and scenery. All the walks we tackled were really strenuous even though we think we are pretty fit and used to walking in the UK. Fantastic walking weather in January through agave, prickly pear and date palms.

Stayed in La Gomera for 5 days and wished we were her for longer, the trekking g walks are amazing.
We walked in the Garajonay National Park on several walks and were very impressed with the variety of nature and the quietness of it all.
No litter, well sign posted and a bus service is available but check return times! A car may make more sense but research well to get it right.
Take plenty of water and snacks, not many options for food stops but those that exist are very good.
You need really good footwear too as some of the trails are very rocky, trek poles would be worth considereing.
Don't forget your camera!

The landscape there seems to us extremely mythical and eerily fascinating! Numerous stops and parking spaces make it easy to explore the surrounding area or discover on foot. Hiking enthusiasts can be enchanted by the beauty of the landscape by meeting rough mountain landscapes and the impressive Laurel Forest. If the mist also settles over the scenery, the magic of the surroundings is hard to top!

Fantastic scenic hike with tour guide ulli through the Garajonay national park.
Breathtaking views above & below the clouds. Steep paths/steps both up & down the mountains but ok for all ages. Would definitely recommend.
Just one thing to add,, please don’t end the tour asking for tips,, just ruins it for me.

Did a selection of walks in the national park on our recent break. We hadn't brought any walking maps/books with us and the visitors centre at the Laguna was closed. Fortunately the park has clear signs and parking for lots of walking routes dotted along the main roads and each is clearly signposted along the way. The ones we did were all largely within the cool forest with a some great viewpoints along the way. Highlight was one starting at the Laguna (think it was route 14) that wound its way up to Garonjay the highest point on the island. Please be aware that we found the estimated times for each route to be conservative. We are by no means fit hikers yet the 6 hour route took us around 3 hours. Can't guarantee this is the case for all routes so obviously leave yourself enough time and daylight!
