Bentancuria was historically a very important town in Fuertaventura, but time and events downgraded it to a very pleasant small town/village. There is much history, including the cannons captured during the invasion. Well worth time to browse.

On an island lacking in attractive towns and villages, it was a delight to visit this sleepy spot which was surprisingly once the capital of Fuerteventura. A dazzling white church, a few restaurants/coffee shops, a museum and a couple of handicraft shops make up the...More

A small village before capital of Fuerteventura. It is well-kept and shining with its white houses. Nestled in a rich and lush valley. To get there you have to drive a road full of magic.

Visited this place on holiday last year and quite enjoyed it. Walked around the cathedral ruins and visited the church before having tapas at a nice little cafe. I would recommend spending an afternoon there rather than the entire day as it isn’t massive.

Betancuria is the old capital and is so peaceful, that is in between coach parties, I always hire a car and make a day of the (sometimes hairy) drive up there, taking a long and different route back. There is plenty of history wrapped up...More

The road up is not for the faint hearted, as it's twisty, and no barriers at some places, which is quite scary when you have a bus coming at speed towards you. Tested my nerves, but well worth it for the stunning views. The statues...More

The drive to Betancuria is not for a nervous driver or passenger, the road is quite narrow but well marked. But when you get to the top of the drive there is a coffee shop with the most fantastic views, we have been up there...More
