A very big plus in my book.
My wife and daughter arranged this family week away with no reference to their husbands (hence the trouble free holiday).
We all wanted a very lazy week in a Villa with it's own pool and that is exactly what we got. Binibecca Vell is very quiet. Lovely and quiet. Not suitable for a stag or hen party unless the couple getting married are in their 80s or 90s but exactly what we wanted and needed to de-stress.
There are some shops and eateries in the village proper -about a 5 minute slow walk from our place and coastal rocks to clamber over if you feel the need and a small beach about 10 minutes walk heading east.
Both lovely and relaxing. To be honest after the shorter walk, a couple of beers and the walk back we just flopped down in or near our good sized pool and watched the kids playing and trying to drown their dad.
Plenty of contact with the local rep, Gayle, who was friendly and helpful with her local knowledge.
Easy bus to Mahon for shopping and then home again so that us men could get our stress levels down again.
This resort lies just south of Mahon Airport so easy and speedy transfer and suprisingly little aircraft noise. Not enough noise to cause concern anyway. Very quiet planes built nowadays.
House points awarded to VillaPlus who treated us to a lunch whilst a plumber cleared a blocked toilet. A very rare problem according to regular visitors. (The blocked loo not the lunch)
I would go again and use the same company but maybe somewhere livelier for a longer break.
I'd also try for a property near the coast like ours, we saw some further back but the walk was a bit steep for older plodders like me.

We have just returned from a second trip to Binibeca in two years. We stayed in different villas each time and I think they are all much of a muchness. There is no sandy beach in Binibeca Vell itself although the beach is only a couple of miles to the east. But there are fabulous coves which, in the Summer, the local authority puts ladders into from the rocks. The lack of ladders in April this year, did not deter my children from still jumping in from the rocks in wetsuits to swim in the sea. Only 15 minutes from the airport, and within easy reach of Mahon and the main road that runs down the spine of the island, this seems to be a perfect place to base oneself for a family holiday. Rent a car and see the whole island easily from one of the pretty little villas in this town.

After all the good reviews we made the effort to visit this 'quant, beautiful whitewashed village'. Don't bother, it a 1970's collection of hotels and villas made to look like a fishing village, complete with authentic British bars and so far from the real Menorca it's not true, more film set than authentic.

This mock old fishing village built in 1968, is well worth a visit during your stay on Menorca. All the buildings are painted white even the teracotta roof tiles. Imaginative design of small passegeways some leading down to the bay. Smaller than expected so would be overcrowded in high season, bars and eaterys are in main street. Only worth a visit of about one hour or so.

We stayed in a beautiful villa 5 minutes walk from the pretty little town of binibeca Vell. A beautiful location with enough to keep us occupied but not too big or busy. Lots of lovely restaurants, our favourite being the Bini Grill were we had delicious food and such a friendly service. We hired a car which enabled us to visit some beautiful little coves and beaches, bini fuller and cala n porter are well worth a visit, stunning! Wouldn't hesitate to return here again.

Its 30 years since our last visit ! not sure why we left it so long.
We went for a relaxing holiday with a 2 year Grand Child ! - middle two weeks of July and whilst hot there was most days a cooling & sometimes stiff breeze. (wonderful climate)
We rented a superb 4 bed villa with large pool & sea views from Dianne & Vance Hingley, their organisation & staff were superb!
The beachs are small but well kept and we did not have a space problem, great for the 2 year old.
Some villas are on well kept avenues with medium to steep inclines, whilst no problem for us or the push chair any one with a mobility problem should bear this in mind (the sea front road and villa's on it are fairly flat and easy walking)
The whole area is clean, tidy, well maintained & fairly quiet even at night - a pleasure to walk round & never seemed crowded !
The flight path to and from the airport comes close so you do get some aircraft noise but we never found it to be a problem (after all we got there on a plane!)
A couple of well stocked Mini Markets within walking distance kept most things and a host of ''English'' stuff - even Marmite! prices similar to UK independent stores (though a larger super store a short drive away on the outskirts of Mahon & smaller one near San Luis)
Several restaurants & bars in the area all were good, The Smugglers being as good as any but with a superb & entertaining host !
The Fish restaurant in old Binibeca itself had wonderful fresh fish, but was at very top price, several restaurants offer a take way service as well.
Whilst I would not say any offered ''haute cuisine'' we tried most and found nothing to complain about.
Generaly we found prices a bit higher than mainland Spain and fairly similar to UK (poor exchange rates at the moment).
Not the place for ''club loving teenagers'' I suspect !
Lovely place home to go again soon!

Bininbeca offers a perfect tranquil setting offering a gorgeous beach turquoise ocean and fabulous climate. Menorca generally is quiet and this area is typical there are many local resturants and bars and a car is not really needed as the amenities are so convienient

Admittedly this village was built in the late 1960's but it is nonetheless a beautiful place. The white washed houses, steps and paths interlink in an organic manner providing limitless photo opportunities. In early October the choice of eating establishments was limited but those we went to provided quality food and a welcoming atmosphere.

We had given serious consideration to staying here at the Vanity Eden to celebrate our 25th Wedding anniversary but changed our mind and decided on the Artiem Carlos 3 in Es Castell instead and as it turns out we are so glad we did. We still wanted to see Binibeca so caught the bus from Mahon that arrived in Binibeca at 11:05 with the intention of having a look around the resort and then having lunch before catching the next bus out at 14:15. Unless we missed something within 30 minutes we were done! There were a handful of shops selling the usual tourist tat and a few restaurants (15 in total according to Tripadvisor at the time of our visit). The restaurants available did not look all that appealing as they were all in an enclosed walkway with no views. With the next bus to freedom more than 2 hours away we decided to cut our losses and called a taxi from the “Radio Taxi” rank and returned to Es Castell. Many of the business units that we noticed were for sale or rent and we fear for the future of this resort. Binibeca is pretty and very very peaceful and if you want to totally chill out, stay in your hotel and sunbathe all day this location could be ideal however it was not for us.

hi Claire, i think this will suit us, were 5 ladies, like a good chill out a nice few glasses of wine and some nice food, but i wanted to ask, it sounds to me that it is very quiet, which is fine, but were are not dead yet, and we like a wander, do you suggest any places near by, to get a cab to, maybe a good place to eat worth travelling to, is Mahon nice in the evening, etc etc , any tips?

Hi coxee, thank you for your helpful reply. One more question - how did you get from the airport - we keep getting mixed opinions - either taxi from outside or pre book a minibus. Villa Plus quote seems expensive. Many thanks.
Taxi, about twenty euros and very efficient.

We are taking our family - 10 of us- to Binibeca in August staying at a Villa Plus Villa. We cannot see any reviews for it, & curious to know where you stayed - we are in Bini Aida Villa. Also, did you did any large food shopping, if so, where can you recommend ? many thanks.

We stayed in Bini Aida villa, we couldn’t find any reviews also but when we arrived all the worry’s went out the window.
It’s such a lovely Villa, we had 7x adults and 5x kids in our group.
The villa was split in two half’s with a living space & kitchen but we only used the front living space with the open windows overlooking the pool table which had loads of use.
Shops and restaurants are all a short walk, as you come out of the villa turn right cross the road and take the left, walk down the hill and you will see the restaurants. keep walking & you’ll come to the supermarket.
The beach - take the same route but keep walking past the supermarket all the way up the road past a nice little restaurant the cook a great English breakfast. One the road starts to bend then you will see the amazing beach with white sands & Cristal clear water, it almost makes you feel your in the Caribbean.

Alla sera è una discoteca e non è certo un luogo adatto e tranquillo per fare una passeggiata.
