It's the city hall with some official government functions. But it is more as it is a large building on a big square where celebrations are held. And it once was a mansion, so lots of importance here. We did step inside to look at the grand reception area and noted a lot of signs directing people to the city goverment offices.

The Town Hall in Palma is one of the most beautiful of the few preserved Baroque buildings in the city and is reminiscent of ancient times, before the tourists took over Mallorca. The house was built in 1649-1680 at a small square, Plaza de Cort, where you also find old olive trees. On the facade, you notice the long balcony, the beautiful woodwork on the large roof overhang and the large clock, "A figure", which was bought from France in 1863. In front of the house, you find the well-worn bench that has become known as "the lazy person's bench" . Inside the entrance you can see the large spiral staircase and, of course, the large dolls that are brought out at the city's festivities. A beautiful house, well worth a visit.
Note: The building on the west side of the town hall, the Palau del Conssell, was a former prison which in the 19th century was rebuilt as the provisional council. Nowadays it is used by the autonomous government of Mallorca.

You made a balloon drop at the son moix children's event held today Sunday, October 13.
That act has been negligent, killing millions of seabirds. They go to sea and mistake it for food, both fish and birds or other animals, causing their death.
There are other ways that are not irresponsible like today's event to commemorate something. You have a thousand options.
Not only should it no longer be allowed, but it should also prohibit the release of balloons in the air. We all know what happens to plastic and that balloons going to sea... there's a lot of information today to make that decision.

Well here we are at City Hall and also on a big Plaza with lots of open space so you can get a good look at the harmonious architecture all around. The City Hall itself is a place of official business. And the buildings around it are very grand.

Palace converted a number of times over its multiple centuries of history - interesting to see the mark put on it by successive owners - well presented - convenient opening

The magnificent, ornate building dominates the square. It has a palpable presence, befitting a capital city. I have not seen the interior though.

Set in a lovely square with a very old Olive tree. From the front a nice work of architecture. Not much more to say as its not a place you can go in very far as it is the main office.

It is an interesting building in the centre of Palma. As it is still in use, a touristic visit is not really possible. You can admire it from outside and during working hours, you can also go inside, as it is a public building.
