Don't know either one of them. But being the Plaza del Mercat, am sure I went. I was never...Never disappointed in whatever I saw, I loved everywhere. either walking or by sailboat, or, by the old train that takes you to Soller. !! We went all around the island on the boat.

Currently, when in Mallorca we found out that the famous Catalanian Architect Antoni Gaudí was involved in a design of the chapel of the Blessed Sacrament in the Cathedral of Mallorca. We were also told, that Palma has a few buildings strongly influenced by Gaudi’s work and therefore reminiscent to his style. So, during our stroll through Palma’s old town we were on a lookout for the modernistic facades.
Just between Plaza Major and Passeig del Born, there is Placa del Mercat. On its east side there are two modernist buildings separated by a narrow street Casta de Can Santacilia. These are Agrupacio (Placa del Mercat 13), and Purification Gar (Placa del Mercat 14). The buildings are often referred as Edifici Casasayas. For Gaudi lovers like us it was a great treat.
The other Gaudi-like buildings we discovered in La Palma were:
Can Forteza Rey on Carrer de Colom going (N) toward Placa Major. Its address is from Placa del Marques del Palmer 1.
CaixaForum building located on Placa de Wylers 3 (also called Fundacio la Caixa).

Practically next door to the end of the Passeig des Born, this is a very nice edifice. I dont think you can go inside, but there is a small piazza with a small church next to it, and you can sit and relax here, a few steps away from the busy streets.

There are two buildings side by side and they are quite spectacular and different in terms of the architecture and design. Most of the buildings around are old and different but these two are specially different and interesting and worth visiting.

Yes, it's in Mallorca, just two steps from Placa Mayor. Pure spanish Modernism, or if you want Art Nouveau, stile Liberty or Secesion style...Very nice and original, for those who like this kind of architecture like me. Nearby you will find another two examples of this architectural style : indeed, on Placa Mercat (5 minutes walk), there's a gran Hotel building now fetauring a café and a library/gallery - the only inconvenient- it's hidden behing large trees- not easy to take pictures and another two "gaudiesque" buildings... Of course, for those who like this style, do not forget to go inside the main Cathedral (la Seu), that was decorated by Gaudi!

These two buildings were designed simultaneously in 1908 and 1909, and are separated by a narrow street. The buildings have matching façades strongly influenced by Modernist and Art Nouveau styles. The famous Catalan architect Gaudí’s influence is also strongly evident in the parabolic window and doorway arches, as well as the undulating style of the building.

We stumbled upon this great site while strolling and were captivated by its unusual beauty.
Very interesting facade, remindes me of famous Gaudi works from Barcelona.

Another building with arquitecture that reminds Gaudi's work in Barcelona! Couldn't help it...
It is indeed one of the most beautiful buildings you'll encounter in Palma, and a must see from outside!
