Nice castle to visit! Free admission to Americans. Use the free audio guide to give you more in depth information. The biggest negative is no taxis in this area….We waited over 30 minutes and no taxis come up here. Suggest not to come without a way to get back to your hotel.

For a nominal amount you can visit this 1300’s circular castle remains. It’s a lovely place to go that doesn’t cost the earth 4€ for adults and 2€ for children students and pensioner (proof required) but free on a Sunday. There is a cafe by the ticket office that offers food and cold drinks that are reasonably priced. Great views of the surrounding area from the top.

An interesting drive through palma brings you to this castle after a bendy trip up the road to the top of the hill.

The castle is quite spectacular, and we were lucky that on the day we went it was free entry. the museum inside the castle is well worth the time spent investigating it thoroughly, it traces the roots of mallorca from 2000 B.C through to modern days and is very interesting.

The views from the castle roof however are why most people will come here and they are majestic even if the day is cloudy

Its only 2 Euros for seniors to visit this interesting castle. The car park is quite small but free. Or you can use the Hop on Hop Off tourist busses.
Unfortunately, the café was closed when we visited and there were no little shops open inside the castle this time around.
But the views from the top are worth the effort of getting there.

We had no expectations at all but decided to walk to the castle.
We were so pleased that we visited. It cost €6 for the two of us and was well worth it.
There were exhibits inside the castle explaining aspects of Mallorcan history.
The architecture of the castle was fascinating, the views were stunning and the surrounding woods were full of birds and insects.
We saw several different warblers and finches with a bonus sighting of 3 hoopoes.
Well worth the investment of a couple of hours.

Please be aware that at the time of writing (late October 2021) the cafe at the castle is closed. There is nowhere to buy a drink (or even sit down!) at all. If you’ve just climbed nearly 500 steps to get here you are going to regret not bringing a drink with you!

Spectacular views but it was a thirsty trip!

Impressive 14th century castle with the best panoramic views in Palma. Can get very hot during the middle of the day, so arrive as early as you can. The best photos of Palma can be be taken closer to sunset, when the sun will cast light onto the cathedral from behind you.

The castle itself is no big deal, it has majestic views of Palma, and documented history that makes for interesting reading. Do not get a taxi there and expect that you will pick one up there as taxis from the site are difficult to find - we had to eventually ask a taxi driver who was paid to wait, to call another driver.
Spain can do much better by providing taxi phones at key tourist attractions like Monaco does

Highly interesting castle—one of only 2 or 3 round castles in Europe. Not necessarily free to Americans, but it is free to everyone on Sundays. King James II had it built and used it as a residence. These days it contains a really nice museum of history. You get great info about the Talaiot (Bronze Age people) of prehistoric times and the Arab occupation. They have displays of ancient and Medieval art pieces; and they depict the use of the castle as a military base and a prison. If you get lucky you can attend a musical performance in the open air rotunda. Views over the city and the Mediterranean are terrific. Definitely a must-see; and if you have the time you can stroll through the wooded grounds.

If you would like to have a one millone view over the city of palma you have to go there. The castle itself it not so special but the view is amazing. You can go there by car or take a 30min walk from the city center. Entrance is 4 euro. There is also a café there to have a drink.
