We’re staying on the sixth floor of the Hotel Londres. We have a view of the Concha curve, the waves crashing and the sultanas that are surfers gathering till twilight. This view is spectacular. People are swimming. We walk to the old town to see what is open. The sun is behind us. There are large shapes carved in the sand. A memorial or a protest. A guy with a stick. He is always there. Then the tide comes and erases what he writes. He is a Sysiphus perhaps pushing his rock up the hill only have it roll down for eternity. We have visited on bicycle the Sea Comb of Chillida, breakfasted at his family’s hotel Niza. All with a view of the curve of this jewel. And even during this virus there is the poetry of people, joggers, bikes moving around it. All masked. Cautious but alive. At night we kept the window open to hear the sea in our dreams. And the unmasking of the moon behind the clouds. Start all over again. And even now when not there the memory crashes in. So beautiful and pleasant. And safe.

The tide flooded the whole beach - it made for so much fun! My brother and I swam very far out and we also spent a lot of time trying to catch fish. We were using our shoes and empty water bottles to try and trap them. The water was a lovely warm temperature and the sand was nice and soft. We also made some great sandcastles. We were very hungry at the end of the day and we had a yummy burger and fries. We loved our time there and hope to return one day.

It is the city beach of San Sebastian. For a city beach it is pretty ok, definitely better than the city beaches I have seen in South of Spain. The islands on the background make a cool photo spot. The tides change a lot during the day, in the afternoon the beach strip was much smaller. It got very full on the weekend! Nice atmosphere.

"A Lota" Restaurant in the Fisherman's Village is by far the Best Seafood Restaurant in the town. Paul and his good wife Sylvia run the business together and are a super team. Great food, great service, spotlessly clean, friendly, relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere and always a welcome. Whether just a coffee, a drink, lunch or an evening meal, it's the place to go.. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Really nice beach smack in the city! Even on a cloudy Sunday with only 23 degrees there were many people on the beach and in the water.
The beach itself is a nice sight but also from the beach the vue is lovely.
The tides are changing every 6 hours and it is fun to see what a difference it makes!

For some reason , the beach is now harder to stay on due to the tides and erosion. It’s great sand and there’s plenty of space to socially distance . The gentle slope of the sand makes the water safe for even young children. Not many restaurants or bars easily accessible from beach . Toilets and showers plentiful.

We walked the entire length of the beach along the promenade that encircles it. It was a great vantage point for taking in the sights and people watching. The beach appeared to have enough space to accommodate multitudes.

classic beach resort which is so typical for the bay of Biscay, both on the Spanish and French sides. A very pleasant place to walk the length of the beach stopping for a drink and/or lunch etc. No matter what the weather has in store, it's wonderful

Not exactly beach weather but a walk here even in February clears the cob webs. Super clean and soft sand you can walk on it all day. Sea breeze in your face you feel refreshed after a morning walk here!

What is the best way to drive from Caunes-Minervois France to San Sebastian, Spain? Google maps says 4 hours should I stay overnight along the way?

The roads are very good. Be sure to stop in Honaribbia for the views from the Castle- Parador. You can even stay overnight and go into the town. Or you can do it all at once and stay in San Sebastián with it’s beautiful beach. Highly recommend the pintos and old town in both places. Lots of fun and unique old world atmosphere and unbelievable food for the price. Very lively at night .
