Easy uphill walk along good paths take you to the castle with stunning panoramic views of Donostia-San Sebastian and the surrounding hills. The castle also has an interesting exhibition summarising the city's history with information boards in a range of languages and Spanish-language videos with English sub-titles. A short walk down from the castle and you reach a lovely, chilled bar for a bit of refreshment before walking back down to the city.

Highly recommend this if visiting the San Sebastian area.
It's a nice walk to the top with superb views across both sides of San Sebastian.
Overall walk takes maybe an hour from top to bottom at a leisurely pace.
Take some water if the weather is warm as it can be tough is some parts

It's really a nice walk, the views are great, and the castle is really cool. The views from Igeldo are better, but the castle beats the silly amusement park for sure. You can access from multiple points so you don't have to start from the aquarium area unless you want to.

Nice hike from the Old Town to the top! It took us longer because we were stopping at the different viewing points. The viewing point at the very top by the feet of the statue is, in my opinion, not the best. There are others along the way with a better view of the beach without trees blocking it. I just did not enjoy that there were many people with unleashed dogs there, big ones. Other than this, it was enjoyable and going down was much faster. There were stairs.

Excellent views and well worth the walk up. Great little museum at the top. See the cemetery on the way up, as part of the history of the city. Crowned by the statue that overlooks all.
Signage could be better and information boards need replacing.

Superb view - multiple routes to the top (including a bus, steps or slopes). Not the hardest climb and some interesting historical markers on the way. A small fortress at the top which affords great views across Donostia.

Although I picked the hottest day of my trip to climb this it was worth it. It's not strenuous and the views are fabulous from the top. Reminded me slightly of christ the redeemer in Rio (obviously not as high). Definitely do it, you'll need an hour max.

Monte Urgull has the statue of Christ and the caste fort at the top. Some reviews are getting this confused with the walk from the other side of the bay and a funicular ride to the top. These are two seperate things. To get to Monte Urgull you take a path from behind the aquarium, check your tourist map.
Follow the signs to Castillo. There are steps and a steep switchback , but easily climbed in 30 minutes. The views are breathtaking and picture perfect. Climb up to the fort and there is a small free museum at the top. Go inside and see stairs on the left to climb up to the Christ statue.
Take a picnic or,do like we did and eat at a pintxo bar when you get back to the old town.

This place overlooks the city and the sea . It can be quite steep but it keeps old cemeteries ( well kept ) from the wars of the early 1800's when Napoleon invaded . Also fortifications .

Is there a parking

Some public parking nearby but not at base of path. You can drive to the top but takes away from the experience.
