This Cathedral dominates the city's skyline. It's name means The Good Shepard - referring to Jesus Christ. It has a Neo-Gothic style and it's building had started in 1888. The bell tower resembles the one in Cologne. There is stained windows and one of the biggest organs in Europe. It is calm and cool comparing to the busing crowded streets in nearby Parte Vieja. I recommend a visit to this holy place even if you are not religious to have a break from the noise outside and have a peaceful moment to recollect your thoughts.

Worth a ten minute detour off the beach and old town. The Church was built relatively recently and has nice light coming in through the stained glass windows.

I attended mass several times at this majestic cathedral and loved feeling a part of the locals. The cathedral’s history is impeccable, and stained glass windows and beautiful side altars well worth he visit.

Peaceful and calm, away from all the noise and bustle of San Sebastian. Worth the detour inside the cathedral to admire the stained glass windows, art & sculptures & absorb the calm atmosphere.

This is a beautiful structure in a beautiful position in the beautiful town of San Sebastian - Donostia, Spain. It is centered at the end of the main street (walking only, like Venice) of the Old Town of San Sebastian. Every night, people from all over the world sit on the front steps and drink beer or cocktails from the bars and restaurants lining the street. I am not normally a very social person but I had a wonderful time talking with people from Sweden, Argentina, Russia, Poland and even Canada. The people are young and old and everything in between.

It is a beautiful church and if you are lucky to visit it a certain time of day when the sun is shining through the stained glass windows on to the the interior of the cathedral it is a magical, almost mystical experience.

We seem to be unlucky in that cathedrals, churches and monuments always seem to be clad in scaffolding when we arrive. However the cathedral was impressive despite that.

As many reviews point out this is not the best Cathedral in the world but in our opinion well worth seeing , it is exactly 1 kilometre from Santa Maria Del Coro so an easy stroll , in fact San Sabastian is quite a small city so nothing is of any great distance . The outside of this Cathedral is beautiful, the inside a little dark and it has a huge organ , it is free to enter and open all day except when mass is taking place .

The cathedral in neo gothic style is the fulcrum of the city and is surrounded by the major commercial outlets as well as elegant apartment blocks . The interior is beautifully decorated and the serene atmosphere is in sharp contract with the hustle and bustle of street life outside.
