This is a great place to stroll along if you want to go off the beaten track...kind of...it's has more crashing waves so it attracts surfers. Alot less busy than la concha. It has more of a chilled vibe which I absolutely loved.

This is a beautiful beach. It feels undiscovered compared to the packed Concha beach across the way. It is referred to as the surfer's beach and with good reason. There are a ton of surfer's which are fun to watch along with kayakers and the many dogs. Great walking beach.

Lovely at this time of year- lots of surfers out enjoying the waves. Warm enough for us to paddle! Easy to access from Gros for a lovely walk.

This beach has some surf, and thus attracts board riders and body surfers. But our visit was badly marred by an assault on our teenage daughter at the rocks at the far end of the beach, when a man approached her and pushed-shoved her near the cliff face, while at the same time trying to grope her. Fortunately she got away okay, but she was very upset.

And the south end of the beach (closest to the city centre) seems to be a place where middle aged men parade around completely naked. G-strings are bad enough, but complete nudity on what is meant to be a family beach?

This beach is the place for wave catching in Donosti. Also surf schools have offices there. It use to be a tiny an dangerous place until thy built a big sea wall on the side between the Urumea river and the Zurriola.

La Concha-Ondarreta beach is spectacular, but never forget to visit Zurriola beach. Across the river and at walking distance from her sisters, Zurriola is much less crowded. Great for surfing and people watching. Top less is common and nudity is allowed. Careful with the undertow.

Beautiful beach, sitting at the west end (in front of the Convention Center) in the afternoon, as the setting sun lights up the hill on the east side. Can get a bit crowded on a sunny day, but not too bad compared to Cadiz or Benidorm. The sand is soft, clean, and pretty light in color.

The waves change gradually from gnarly dumpers on the east side of the beach, to mellow on the west. Given the size of the swell and your personal comfort level, you can usually find a wave perfect for your needs. Best at low to mid tide. Surfing at high tide is pretty much impossible, as the tide often peaks at 13+ feet, with the waves closing out and breaking right on the sand.

Only a handful of restaurants on the beach itself, but tons of establishments within a five minutes walk.

Some readers commented on the "naked men" on the beach. Although the west side is traditionally recognized as a closing optional beach, there are rarely more than 3-4 naked individuals, almost exclusively men in the 60+ range. Pretty harmless. At worst, a testimony to the tricks gravity plays on us as we age.

With La Conch beach to compete with this is always gonig to be second best but nevertheless in another situation it would be raved about. It's situated across the river from La Concha

This beach is known for the younger crowd and also for those who surf. The surf is easy and to me this looks like a "beginner" surfer beach but none the less enjoyable. There are places to rent boards and wetsuits along the promenade and you will not be surfing alone. The beach is clean and there are restaurants and bars very close by. The neighborhood is called Gros in San Sebastian. It is less expensive than around La Concha beach and for the younger crowd.
