The best part of our experience with Basque Tours was that we didn't feel like we were on a tour. Our awesome guide, Andy, felt more like a friendly local who was knowledgeable about the area and happened to have a comfy touring van to take us around. The entire process was super smooth. It only took a couple emails with their team to customize a two-day itinerary that worked around a pre-existing reservation we had at one of the amazing restaurants in the area, as well as incorporated their excellent suggestions for activities we wouldn't have found ourselves. The pricing was transparent and a great value, especially for a private tour as a smaller group (two couples). We highly recommend Basque Tours and would definitely book with them again if (and after visiting, more likely when!) we are in the area again.

Its always great to hear people refer to us as friendly locals and not a touring "company" We love nothing more than to finish the day saying that we have made some new friends. Thank you for taking the time out to send us such a fantastic review. From our Guides to our office staff we all work very hard to ensure you have a memorable experience. You are definitely welcome back and we look forward to showing you more of our beautifully slice of the world. Many safe travels, and until next time. Regards Basque Tours Team

Jani, our guide, provided our small group of friends a detailed tour of all the highlights of San Sebastián. We gained a deeper understanding of this historic town. We road in a van from La Concha Beach to all the furthest points of interest such as Miramar Palace with it’s beautiful gardens and amazing views, Haizearen Orrazia and the awe inspiring Piene Del Viento trio of sculptures overlooking the Ocean, Monte Igueldo (which from a distance looks like an old castle but actually is an amusement Park), Maria Christine Bridge and the hotel with the same name; such an elegant historic hotel with a great wine/deli/gift shop. We drove to Zurriola Beach known for its surfers and more reasonably priced hotels and then on to the Old Town and did the remaining tour on foot. Jani has so much knowledge of the history of Old Town and seems to know so many people. We learned about the varios churches, visited the colorful produce market and talked about where to get the best Pintxos which San Sebastián are known for. I highly recommend this tour company and guide

Our group of 6 friends enjoyed two outstanding and fun tours out of San Sebastian: (1) City Walk and Pintxos with Maria and (2) Bilbao City and the Guggenheim Museum with Vicente. Both guides were enthusiastic, knowledgeable and friendly enabling a top-notch experience. The pintxos in the San Sebastian restaurants were all so tasty and, after visiting the architectural masterpiece of the Guggenheim, Vicente took us to a special seaside restaurant in Mutrika where we enjoyed a most delicious seafood lunch. Although our stay in San Sebastian was too short, the two tours provided valuable insights into the unique culture of the area. Highly recommend!

Four of us did three days of customized tours with Andy (days 1 & 2) and Juan (day 3). Andy drove us from Bilbao to San Sebastian, taking us through scenic countryside, to Gernika, Zumaia and a fantastic fresh fish lunch in Getaria. The following day we toured La Rioja, visiting three very different wineries with a picnic lunch at one. We appreciated Andy's knowledge of the Pays Basque, sensitivity to the experiences we would enjoy and spur of the moment adjustment to avoid places we'd already visited. Our third day with Basque Tours was led by Juan, who was also adept at adjusting to where we had already been and providing alternative experiences. He picked us up in San Sebastian and drove us to Biarritz. On the way, we particularly enjoyed seeing the other side of San Sebastian--the charming Pasaia, the well-preserved Hondarribia and lunch & shopping in Espelette. We would heartily recommend Basque Tours to anyone traveling to Basque country.

My husband and I took the Basque Country and Coast tour with John as our guide. Can highly recommend the tour and company - my booking enquiry was responded to promptly, they were very flexible in accommodating the date we needed. Most importantly the day exceeded all expectations - the sights and stories behind them will be a highlight of our holiday. Well worth the investment!!

We booked a day trip to the French Basque countryside with Basque Tours. Our guide Andy, was wonderful and led us on a full day through Biarritz, St. Jean de Luz and Hondoribbia. Three towns sounds like a lot in one day, but this is the benefit of a private tour with a knowledgeable guide to take you through each town, sharing history and culture, points of interest and identifying the best shops! We would not have been able to put this tour together on our own without many hours of research. Basque Tours was responsive to my inquiries when researching tours, the communication about payment and meeting time/location was clear, our guide was punctual and picked us up in a new, spacious Mercedes minivan. We had a truly awesome day!

Our itinerary included tours of French Basque Coast, San Sebastion City and Pintxos, Rioja wine region, and Spanish Basque Coast+Bilboa city. Guides Andy and Juan provided exceptional expertise, knowledge, and personality in making the 4 days a truly special and fun experience. The diversity of natural landscape beauty, food and drink, history, and cultural experiences were all top notch.

What a day! Andy was a rock star as a tour guide! The day long adventure was amazing! To learn about the Basque history and culture was so enlightening! The tour took us the Basilica where the Jesuit religion was founded by St Ignatius. The tour went throughout the hills of the region from small town to large town taking in the unique areas. We stopped at the Txakoli Ameztoi Bodega for wine, appetizers and the view! It was an amazing and beautiful stop. We descended down to the coast where we had lunch in Geteria at Txoko restaurant. The food was delicious. We asked Andy to enjoy all aspects of the tour as he was great at sharing his story and travels from Australia to Spain and how he became acclimated to the region. I feel that was important, because he has a strong appreciation for the Basque region as he has been there for a decade. It was truly a special day and Andy had a huge impact why.

That's definitely one of the things that the Basque Country does so well, Food and Wine. How can you go wrong with such great places and ingredients to enjoy? Many thanks for taking the time to review us. We are so glad that you had a great day, safe travels and hope to see you again soon. Regards Basque Tours Team

My wife and I did the tour of French Basque country with Andy while we were spending a few days in San Sebastian. We wanted to see towns like Espelette and Ste. Jean Pied de Port and were unsure how we would do that. The best answer to this question is Basque Tours!

Andy was a wonderful tour guide. Not only did he speak perfect English (he is a native Australian), but as someone who isn't from Basque Country or Spain, he was able to anticipate questions we might have about the fascinating Basque culture, cuisine, and broader region. Andy has a true love for Basque Country that shines through in the many smart, hilarious, and thoughtful anecdotes he offers throughout the day.

Andy picked us up at our BnB in the morning and took us to about a half-dozen towns in French Basque Country. Every one of them was unspeakably beautiful and Andy was able to guide us through what made each town most interesting. Between towns he regaled us with information about the region and his perspctive as an immigrant to the culturally rich and vital region.

The towns of the region are preserved with loving care by local authorities down to the color of the shingles and the maintenence of medeival era staircases. You'll feel like you are walking through a fairy tale, but with better food and drink.

The tour with Andy was a once in a lifetime experience we will not soon forget. We travel fairly frequently and this is among the best tours we have been on in our entire lives.

If you want a vacation highlight you will treasure for years to come, choose Basque Tours.

What an amazing day - our family and friends (6 pax) hiked to XoXote. It was about an hour and 15 minute hike. The hike, the vistas, txakoli, caldo, and chorizo sandwich at the top were out of this world. Jon, our guide was prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, patient, and catered to the slowest of our group. He assisted where necessary. He was super funny and very handy with taking pictures. The total hike from start to finish with a 45 minute break at the top was about 3 1/2 hours

After our hike, we went to a nearby family run farmhouse style restaurant. The food was simple, and fresh, local, and very tasty. I would highly recommend the hike and lunch tour.
