What an attractive little bar. Full of interesting and quirky objects. Fabulous bar staff, making you feel welcome. Great music playing and fantastic selection of spirits and cocktails! The gin & tonic I had was delicious and I would definitely recommend trying out some of the local tonics with the numerous gins on offer here. Definitely the best vibes in a bar we discovered in the city while we were there for the 3 nights on a long weekend trip. Would definitely look up this place if we go back!

Perfect cocktails in a unique place
Pub La Carboneria is located in a former mine building, which makes for a very special setting for a Pub. We went there last night and took the metro from Bilbao center (old town/casco viejo). It takes about 3 stops to Indautxu. The pub is just around the corner.
The barmaid spoke english and was really friendly while helping us choose a gin. They have a huge selection, but nevertheless she was really patient while we were sniffing the bottles and asking questions. She served our gins the perfect way, with different types of botanicals (berries, herbs, dried spices,...) which gave the gins their perfect aroma.
You might find them a little bit more expensive than normal cafés (we paid around 9 euro's for one GT) but it's one of the few places where they add a brand tonic (e.g. Fevertree) instead of Schweppes!! And they were very generous with the amount of alcohol, it's not pure ice like in most places ;-)
Try it out, you'll be pleasantly surprised!
