This is a great place. I had a class that taught us how to cook here. It was a nice experience. My only negative (which it makes sense, not arguing, just making you aware) the prices for food inside there is a bit expensive. Just spend the money to travel a little more around Bilbao and eat at a more local joint for half the euros.

On our first day in Bilbao we wandered from our hotel down through the city to te old town, we didn't have anything in mind except to have a casual walk and take in the sights and the sounds.

Eventually we ended up down by the river and popped in to the Mercado De La Ribera, initially for someone to use the toilet but after investigation we decided to stay and have something to eat.

We found a number of stalls selling good quality pintxos and drinks. We were a little early for lunch but tempted by the quality of the food on offer we stayed.

We selected a number of items from different stalls, for myself some octopus, Iberian ham and tortilla. Accompanied with some keenly price rioja of a good standard we enjoyed a relax lunch in this busy part of the market. We sat inside but there are also tables outside on the river side of the market.

Although it is supposed to be the biggest covered market in Europe we didn’t really feel that. However, it is a not to be missed place if you visit Bilbao. The market itself is very organised and offers a variety of options. On the first floor there are different stαlls that offer a variety of different pintxos to choose from and each of them costs 2€ on average. We were really satisfied by the flavours and the quality of everything.

The market is best seen first thing in the morning when the vendors are there with their fresh products. Take a look at the Art Deco stained-glass panels on the top floor. There is a very nice seafood market across the street that was fun for a look, too.

This is one of the largest working markets in Europe and is filled with modern stalls selling fish, meat and vegetables in the main. Watching the skilled fishmongers and butchers at work is a joy. Few souvenir shops though. The stained glass windows are second to none and worth a visit on their own. It is often recommended for its food halls at lunchtime but these are not always open.

Highly recommend coming here, the largest food market in the world, to try all the pintxos when in Bilbao. Check out La Bodeguilla, which has delicious guindilla pepper, anchovy, and olive pintxos and beer, and Vermuteka, which also offers classic pintxos and sangria. Both places have excellent customer service. You can also bring your beer and pintxos outside if you want to dine by the river.

Indoor food market with great wines and pinxtos by the side of the traditional market and with an outdoor area viewing the river. Nice acoustic treatment inside means pleasing on the ear unlike so many similar ventures. Food was of a high standard

We found this market whilst wandering around the area by the river. The food court, which is open until late evening and has a terrace overlooking the river and is part of a local food market, was busy and had an excellent range of pintxo's on offer at lunch--time so we decided to return in the evening.

To our disappointment, the food on offer looked 'tired', a number of outlets had already closed (it was only round 7.00pm) and there were very few people eating there. Naturally, we gave it a miss, and headed to the nearby Neuva Plaza where the scene was much lively.

I came here with my Dad and we both absolutely loved it. So many fresh food stalls with loads of meats, cheeses, fish, deli items and more. There is also a food hall offering pintxos, which I would highly recommend. There was a huge amount of choice, and all of them looked delicious. I opted for a jamón iberico one, and my Dad went for a chicken and padrón pepper one, both were fantastic. If I went again I think I would go for something a little more interesting, maybe one of the seafood ones as they looked fantastic. Would highly recommend for anyone visiting Bilbao.
