Come and join us for an unforgettable visit to Bilbao!Welcome to Eusko Greeters, a non-profit organization founded in 2011 that offers visitors a new form of alternative tourism and, in particular, a new welcoming policy based on voluntary participation. The main objective of this service is the cultural exchange, for the visitors and Greeters (locals). Eusko Greeters has already launched the Bilbao Greeters Program to provide the service, free of charge, in Bilbao and the surroundings. Donostia and Gasteiz programs will follow soon. Please register, via email, at least two weeks in advance of your arrival in Bilbao.

Santi showed us around the city the first day giving us much information about the history and architecture of Bilbao. He took us places we would not otherwise have visited and was very passionate about his love for Bilbao and the Basque country. On the next day he even drove us to a fascinating Boinas factory museum where the famous... More

Nekane Iglesias, our Bilbao Greeter, gave us a wonderful introduction to Bilbao and specifically to the culture and history of the Basque people and region. Our walk included a stroll along the river with an on-going commentary of what was within our sights and their significance. Nekane was open to all questions and we found some of the answers in... Our wonderful host, Nekane, spent the whole day with the 4 of us showing us the varied sights & architecture of Bilbao. Explaining the history of the city & sharing her personal knowledge in a warm & friendly manner. The perfect way to start a perfect holiday.

Bilbao Greeters is part of a world-wide organization of people who volunteer to show tourists their city. Based on our experience in Bilbao and other places there is no better way to experience a city. We spent an afternoon with Nekane, a life-long resident of Bilbao who showed us her city while weaving in the fascinating history of the city... More

Over the Years I've had the opportunity to participate as a tourist in the global Greeters program. This is not an organization that takes on locals who are looking for ways to fill up their day and practice their English. They are committed, loyal, and enthusiastic residents of their beloved cities. An afternoon or morning with one of these selected... More

We were greeted by Ainoha who was polite and helpful. She showed us the old town and the new town and a lot of the sights. She also explained what and where everything was.

We spent a wonderful 6 1/2 hours with Bilbao greeter, Marivi, learning from a native about the local customs, history, food and architecture of this fascinating city. They will try to match your interests and time frame with a suitable guide. We recommend with no hesitation taking a tour with Bilbao greeters for a first hand, very inclusive overview of this... There's nothing better than getting shown a city by a local. Bilbao Greeters does a great job of it. We were shown so many amazing sights that as tourists walk around we would have missed. The few hours we sent with Marta opened our eyes to what an amazing city Bilbao is. I can't recommend enough.

We are so pleased we organised our Greeter whilst back home in Australia. Roberto was a charming Greeter who was happy to share his knowledge and love of Bilbao. You definitely learn more about the city than any guide book can provide. Thank you, Roberto.
