There's nothing better than getting shown a city by a local. Bilbao Greeters does a great job of it. We were shown so many amazing sights that as tourists walk around we would have missed. The few hours we sent with Marta opened our eyes to what an amazing city Bilbao is. I can't recommend enough.

We are so pleased we organised our Greeter whilst back home in Australia. Roberto was a charming Greeter who was happy to share his knowledge and love of Bilbao. You definitely learn more about the city than any guide book can provide. Thank you, Roberto.

Bilbao is an extremely walk-able city but without a guide, you miss the history and background of this charming city. Bilbao Greeters is a free service that relies solely on gratuities so they have to be good! I highly recommend this service for your first visit!

Howard was the perfect host. His enthusiasm and knowledge made this beautiful city even more special. We expected a couple of hours but he kindly stayed with us for the whole afternoon - walking most of the city and getting a feel for Basque culture. Couldn't praise Bilbao Greeters more highly.

Anyone visiting Bilbao should discover, as we did, that the once-industrial city has undergone a remarkable transformation that reaches well beyond the amazing Guggenheim Museum designed by Frank Gehry that draws foreign tourists and art lovers from around the world. One of the new treasures is Bilbao Greeters, an organization of devoted volunteers anxious to show off their city and... More

Our delightful greeter José met us at our hotel and then we walked and walked (although we did stop for coffee)! He is very knowledgeable about Bilbao having lived there all his life and was able to tell us about the history of the city as well as showing us the places of culture. We felt that we were walking... More

Greeted with a friendly smile in the pouring rain, our Greeters were informative and had unbounded enthusiasm for their city. Our three hours with Jose Luis and Asun were the highlight of our our trip. We got to know the history, culture and layout of Bilbao, giving us plenty of pointers for the remaining three days of our stay. It... More
