Start early! Our hike from Poncebos to Cain was awe inspiring, I wasn't bothered by the drops and apart from first incline the rest was flat and easy going. A quick refreshment stop at first venta in Cain and we started the return leg back...More

We walked this route from Cains to Poncebos and back, this seems to be the less popular direction for the walk (judging by the numbers of people we met coming the other way). It is a very popular walk so go there early and during...More

A lot of reviews have claimed that you must not miss one half of the trail or the other. The entire hike is beautiful so if you have to turn back halfway for logistical reasons, you’ll still lead a full life. Wear hiking shoes or...More

We drove 1.5 hrs from Santander to park right next to the trailhead at about 0830 on a Sat morning. Parking at the Poncebos end is all on-street and the road back down to the village gets full quite quickly. We were fortunate with the...More

The Cares Gorge, I'll put this right up front, is an astonishing place. It carves a scar through the landscape, and not long after starting the 20km or so walk out from Poncebos to Cain and back, a few kilometres of climbing puts us about...More

Stunning walk from start to finish. The views and landscapes are hard to believe. The scale is incredible as are the colours and shapes. The path itself is fairly easy just a long route. We completed with beers at the turnaround point.

Breathtaking, mind-blowing, humbling, spectacular... A must-do. We walked the trail one way, from Poncebos to Cain. We went on a Tuesday in July and started early (8 a.m.) to beat the sun and the crowds. This turned out to be a great idea as there...More

This is one of the most incredible hikes around and it is primarily a slightly undulating hike through a spectacular gorge. It is a 14 mile round trip but one can walk as far as you want and turn-around if that seems more than you...More

We hiked part of this route while on a family trip in Asturias. We were 13, ages 10 to 51. We parked in Poncebos and headed to Cain, and indeed, the views were spectacular. We did not complete the route as planned, and decided to...More
