Sevilla is amazing. Having spent almost 4 years there I was as much at home there as I’ve ever been anywhere. I worked at Garlochi for a while with Marcelo, may he Rest In Peace and the owner Miguel. Eccentric was the start of it. Being behind that bar and making Sangre De Cristo and agua de Sevilla while looking at all of the paintings on the opposing wall was as magical as it was haunting. The bar starts late and finishes early. The crowd eclectic and sometimes famous but nobody ever seemed to care about who was at the table next to them. Holy Week (Semana Santa) is a real big deal there and at Garlochi (heart in argot, or so Miguel told me) it was a year round celebration. Last time I was there his son ran it and does a great job. If you’re there you need to see it. Enjoy!!

It's three months on and I still don't know what to make of this bar, but I'm sure I loved it!
The bar has a distinct "Semana Santa" (Holy Week) vibe. If the statue at the front didn't tip you off, then surely the somber processional music and the wafts of incense that greet you at the door will! Everything about this place is unusual, except for the bathrooms. It's a weird and wonderful place that all people of legal drinking age, Catholic or non-Catholic, should consider popping into for a peek. The bar-man is friendly, and doesn't mind tourists.

The most Unique Bar I’ve ever visited! Great atmosphere, amazing decor, so different but very traditional. The owner Miguel was great, he is also an artist and you can see his beautiful work there. We had a lot of fun and we will be back soon!

Total rip off €6 for 2 bottles of cruzcampo he should be waring a mask, just awful. An embarrassment to Andalucia. I have lived here for 22 years and can't think of a place that rips off foreigners to this degree. Having told him about his usury practices I was subsequently banned, a unique honour which I am very proud of. Go here if you are a fool.

We didn't get attended so we better left the place. It seems they have great concerns about having to serve tourists specially if you are from a different sexual orientation. Discrimination should never be accepted.

The decor is like a church after a funeral or maybe a late 19th century family mausoleum. Very bizarre but really enjoyed taking it all in. Don’t expect to get a glass of wine or a jug of sangria though. It’s beer or spirits. Only down side is the price of drinks which sadly didn’t make us want to stay longer.

So, one of my traveling companions on this trip knew an author living in Sevilla who told her about El Garlochi. Almost midnight, wandering down small streets we came upon this bar. For her, it was the gateway to heaven with all the super catholic relics and decor. She was beatified. For the two of us, we thought we were in interview with a vampire and knew we were there for eternity. Although the bar opened at 9pm, hours before we and the ancient bartender were the only ones there. Suddenly in comes a young handsome man and an older one with a can of churros that the mom of the young man just made and shared them with us. (we were sure this is when the vampires would attack). they both took out an seemingly antique set of dominos and began to play. The older of the two turned out to be the owner and began to show us pictures of celebrities that had been there, Before we knew it and truly enchanting evening began.
The bar quickly filled up with a cast of characters reminiscent of being in the east village in NYC in the early 80's. Needless to say, what was a suggestion, turned into one of the best evenings every.

Interesting place, for sure - the guy's got it deep for our saviour; however, not so much when it came to the bill. We were all alone in the bar (before 11pm on a Tuesday), and he charged us Euro 10 for 1 bottle of beer (the local favourite), and 1 Bailey. With our ~4 words of Spanish, it was difficult to inquire about this surprisingly high cost, so we paid and left. Checked later at the Carboneria: 1 Bailey, Euro 5.5; one bottle of beer: Euro 1.5 - that's Euro 7. Not a biggie, but hate to be ripped off presumably because I'm a tourist.

Bar Nightlife, open at 9 pm. They serve cocktails and beer, no wine or jeres. The typical drink of this place is the "blood of Christ". The decor is unique, covered in Jesus statues and paintings. Quite expensive.

Definitely worth a visit if you like eccentric bars. This place is unique, covered in Jesus statues, dolls and paintings of the Spanish royal family. It’s a must. They only accepted cash when we went. They also are expensive. £7 for a whiskey, albeit the shot of whiskey was pretty large!
