After walking through lots of streets coming upon Plaza Nueva with all of its trees was like finding an oasis. It's a very attractive square, with some interesting buildings, including the City Hall. It seemed to be a place that people go for relaxation. There are numerous places to sit and there was a very good band busking which was playing ragtime music. In the centre is a statue of a former king, Fernando III, sat upon a horse.

It’s an enhancing space, expansive and with some absorbing attractions.

These include Capilla de San Onofre and a magnificent equestrian tribute to San Fernando.

We visited as the daylight faded bringing an extra atmospheric feel to it.

The square is called new, because it was built in the 1850s well after the existing squares in the old city. The rectangular shape and the buildings around make a rather modern impression. The main entrance of the city hall is at its eastside.

The monument in the middle was added in 1924 and underscores the Christian identity of Seville. Ferdinand 3 of Castile on his horse conquered Islamic al Andaluz in 1248 and forced most of the original population out of the city. A reason to declare him saint afterwards.

Remarkable are the many city bicycles on the square. As if never anyone hires one...

Beautiful square located in the center of Seville and where its town hall also overlooks. Green with several trees, at its center is the equestrian statue of San Ferdinando III. On the sides you will find restaurants and commercial activities.

Except for the City Hall building I found this place tasteless and quite dirty. From the fact that a tram line finds its terminus there if not the starting point of several Serpies and Tetuan streets. In short, don't stop!

I purchased a water and sat down at this plaza to relax for a bit after a long day of exploring in the heat. It is a nice plaza, especially sitting on the bench under the trees. Within the plaza is a monument of King Saint Ferdinand.

Plaza Nueva is a lovely public square with some greenery and space to sit and relax. Plenty of shops around. The area was built on what used to be land belonging to a convent (of San Fernando), which explains I suppose the big monument in the middle of the plaza. The Town Hall is also in this area. Worth strolling around and about. It's in the middle of the city.

This was our usual evening hangout after a day out in Seville. When we were there in March, the orange blossoms were out and the smell was divine. A great place to people watch and close to everything.

If you are looking for a place to relax and people watch, you have come to the right place. There are little bars and restaurants around the square where you can enjoy a meal or a drink
