About
The purpose of the Jewish Heritage tour is not just to visit key sites related with the jewish past of the city, but also to focus on all aspects of Judaism in Sevilla. The idea that lies behind my tour is to show you Sevilla through "jewish eyes". And for that we have to put into context past and present. Therefore during our tour, I will take you along an emotional journey where you will be able to understand and enjoy the uniqueness of Jewish past and present day life in Seville..

Moises was an excellent guide. He educated us about Jewish life in Seville after the city was conquered by the Christians. He took us all around the Jewish quarter, had excellent visual aids, and enabled us to imagine how Jews lived during that time. The tour was so informative and the highlight of our trip.

Moisés led us through the formerly Jewish neighborhood of Santa Cruz and its environs, highlighting where Jewish life previously had existed in Sevilla. As there actually is little left of Jewish Sevilla, Moisés' ability to point to what remnants remain and bring history to life was critical and he delivered. Moisés did a great job!

Travelling through the once Jewish ghetto with Moises was a gift to be cherished. He provided insightful history of the ebb and flow of the Visigoth, Jewish, Muslim and Catholic communities across the centuries.
He is both an educator and an advocate for the protection of people and their histories.
We learned a lot not just by listening but also by his willingness to engage in provocative discussion.
An amazing afternoon. Highly recommended.

Our tour with Moises was one of the highlights of our trip to Southern Spain. He is an incredibly knowledgeable and charismatic guide with a wealth of information about Jewish life in Seville — both past and present. While there aren’t many sites remaining from before the Inquisition, Moises paints a fascinating picture of Jewish life in Southern Spain and takes you to a number of hidden gems and spots you would never otherwise find. Would absolutely recommend this tour!

The morning we spent with Moises was the highlight of our trip to Spain. I was traveling with my husband and my two teenage children. My teenagers were often reluctant to join us for tours. They both said this tour was the highlight of their trip. Since the tour, we have spent a lot of time as a family discussing things that Moises talked about. Moises speaks from his heart and his head. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the Jews in Spain and in Sevilla. He also has a very personal connection to the Jewish community in Sevilla, having grown up there, gone to university there, and being one of a few dozen Jewish families that remain in Sevilla. He is a gifted teacher. If you are planning a trip to Spain, do not miss this tour - even if Sevilla was not on your itinerary!

My friend Diane and I went on a tour with Moises in February. I am not Jewish, and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and the historic value and incredible knowledge Moises provided about Seville and its history. I highly recommend this tour.

Jorge Gershon was recommended to us. We took the Sevilla and Cordoba Jewish Tours. Beyond wonderful. He is so, so knowledgeable and personal both days were totally worthwhile and enjoyable. I’m even going to try to bring him to our home area to speak. If you are interested in the Jewish history in Spain don’t miss this.

Gershon was so knowledgeable and engaging , I learned so much. We were a group of 6, extremely manageable, although his colleague Moises tried to sell us a private tour, probably a misunderstanding. Gershon had so mush to share and clearly loved doing so.

A friend who had hired Moises was so pleased, she told us that we "have to do this tour!" Well, was she ever right on with her recommendation. In addition to booking his tour, he made reservations for us for a Flamenco performance that was not on the "tourist-beaten track." He also advised us on our choices for attending a bullfight.

His tour of the Jewish Quarter of Sevilla was one of the major highlights of our trip to Spain. Being of Sephardic Jewish heritage, it was exciting to learn about an area where my ancestors could have resided. He had a tremendous wealth of knowledge and was very easy to understand; his command of English was excellent. He concentrated on proving us with information; he did not steer us into stores where he might have had a commission deal as some other tour guides do.

He also helped us plan a visit to Cordoba, a trip we were doing without a guide.

Moises went above and beyond what one expects from a tour guide. If you are going to Sevilla, and would like a Jewish tour, you must hire Moises; his fee is more than worth it.

We had the great fortune to do a walking tour with Jorge Gersham Ben-Ami. He is extremely knowledgeable about the Jewish community past and present and shared his insights with us. He is easy to listen to and captivated my spouse and I from beginning to end.
You can tell that he is historian who has researched his information and intelligently presented it to us and in an informative manner.
Do not waste your time with any other tour of the “Jewish quarter” ( as we did did previously), Go through the cultural center and make sure Jorge is the guide!
