Like Los Marineros in Triana, this is another hermandad (brotherhood) church in the center of old Seville. Peculiar about this one, is it has two naves. A result of the joining together of an old hospital church and a hermandad chapel during the mid 1700s. The brotherhood of silence is in charge of maintenance. Interestingly this brotherhood was founded to defend the dogma of the virginity of Mary, mother of Jesus...

Many believers do not enter the church, but light a candle in front of a shrine outside.

This is a local church and very beautiful with a much revered image in the courtyard. In November there was a special devotion on and it was very crowded. The lovely church is free and non touristy. The one drawback is it is hard to get the opening times-they do not relate to anything in a guidebook-just chance. The good-it is very beautiful and only a 100m or so from El Corte Ingles down Calle Alfonse so not out of the way.

It seems as if not many people actually go inside, but it is well worth it. Beautiful and gilded. The courtyard seems always to be full, with locals lighting candles. It makes you feel a bit of a voyeur, but they don't seem to mind that tourists stand and watch.

Very interesting church, felt different. Small, silent, dark, with figures inside which I could not name. Worth a visit to check it out. However, it is more of a real church than a tourist atraction.

The San Antonio Abad Church is located at Calle Alfonso XII, 3. This church has two naves because in the 18th century two buildings were joined. The first building was the San Antonio Abad Church and the other was the Chapel of the Hermandad de Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno. The new church formed was built between 1720 and 1740 and its architect was Diego Antonio Diaz. The naves are covered with vaulted ceilings. There are two retables, one with the image of Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno and the other of Maria Santisima de la Concepcion. These belong to the religious brotherhood of the Hermandad del Silencio. The church was remodeled several times in the 19th century.

The Church of San Antonio Abad has good art. It has the images of Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno and María Santísima de la Concepción, both images of the Hermandad de Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno, a religious brotherhood. The church has other beautiful sculptures too in its chapels.

Walking down Calle Alfonso XII I came across Iglesia De San Antonio Abad ( Silencio ) and what a great find.
A beautiful church, home to the Brotherhood Of The Holy Silence which was founded in 1340 making it the oldest brotherhood in Seville ,the church is actually two churches that have been incorporated, Hospital Church Of San Antonio Abad and Chapel Of Jesus Nazareno, constructed in the 18th century its a beautiful church to view ,very photogenic, if you're walking down Calle Alfalfa XII it's a church well worth a few minutes of your time.

Church of San Antonio Abad contains a revered Nazarene image of the 16th century which is situated outside the entrance in the small courtyard. It is very well attended with numerous offerings and most worshipers don't enter the church. Inside is the usual heavily ornate Baroque with an attractive side chapel to the Virgin. The triple bell is a standout feature.

This is a busy church visited by mainly locals. There was queues of people trying to get in when we visited. The interior is very grand and pretty. Free.
