Situated in the Macarena near the fort that surrounded the town. Unfortunately we could not go in but the outside was nevertheless beautiful.

Location of the church is opposite an ancient roman wall. We took the bus there and walked as well. We wanted to see the statue of the Virgin of Hope. It is a wooden statue but so lovely. The interior of the church is simple and beautiful. The museum houses some of the floats used during the Semana Santa. There's... More

The Macarena is a saint with her own church in Seville, very picturesque. It is just before the old walls on the right hand side going into Seville centre, they take the icon out on feast days which is amazing when you see the intricacy of the work.

General ambience of hope and goodwill. Basilica seems to celebrate life and happiness rather then expected death, doom and gloom, La Macarena had a surprisingly very welcoming aura about it.

The sheer opulence of the treasure on display is amazing. The workmanship and detail is incredible. Found it challenging that so much could be held in one place when so many other places have less.

This church is simply spectacular - particularly the ceiling paintings. Well worth the effort to seek out, and the Feria Market is only a 5-min walk away for some great wine/tapas options afterwards.

We were in Seville last year and when we arrived here it was closed. We were luckier this year . It was well worth the wait . Inside the church is absolutely beautiful.

Nice to see, but just a city wall with loads of traffic around. Was hoping to find out a little more of the history, but nothing around to help that we saw.

Like most things in Seville this was a good 20 min walk for us..we arrived just as a service had finished and was free to enter..check it out, it is very beautiful and stunning,be prepared for heavy beggars outside..but as i found out they are friendly and go away if asked

I heard from locals that Macarena is where everything started in Sevilla. That should be a reason on its own to visit this part of the town. It is old town, with walls, narrow streets, old houses etc. Some public transport (small circular busses will take you thru some parts, we opted to explore it by walking). Bring a compas,... More
