- RjessMMMVancouver, Washington575 contributionsWonderful green spaceWe spend hours today, Sunday just wandering this special park. After the hectic prescheduled days of visiting the Alcazar and the Seville Cathedral, it was was nice to just walk around with many hundreds of others enjoying the numerous fountains and green space. There are bathrooms available but they are 1 euro each to keep them clean so just make sure you save some coins. No one really was in a rush and we did rent a row boat at Plaza de Espana for 6 euros for 35 minutes of upper body exercising. Would take the time to smell the proverbial roses and just relax during your busy vacation. Enjoy.Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 12, 2023
- EveLondon, United Kingdom90 contributionsAnother beautiful space to enjoy natureA beautiful park next to the Plaza de Espana. Another beautiful park in Seville to thoroughly lose yourself in! Even in December the trees and plants are lush and green (not to mention the abundant orange trees). And I love the fountains! Seville loves a fountain and I am here for it! I only regret visiting so late on my final day in Seville. So do yourself a favour and allow plenty of time to enjoy this beautiful park.Visited December 2023Traveled soloWritten December 28, 2023
- K72Melbourne, Australia3,082 contributionsBig parkBig park in Seville as a nice alternative to churches and museums. Ducks, swans and little row boats make it fun for kids. On Sundays there's a little market at the back near the stunning Plaza de Espana building.Visited December 2023Traveled with friendsWritten January 14, 2024
- Emily MLondon, United Kingdom121 contributionsThrilling, hilarious, fun, excitingIt was amazing! We had the time of our lives. We went on the boats first which were €6 for 35 minutes an amazing deal! The water was crystal clear and there were thousands of goldfish gliding through the water underneath. Next we went on two bikes one for 3 people and one for 5 it was amazing , we raced through the park enjoying the scenery as we went by.Visited February 2024Traveled with familyWritten February 14, 2024
- 1920s girlLondon, United Kingdom220 contributionsHorse and carriage ride, didn't a day here enjoying its beautiful surroundingsFree entry. Beautiful, tranquil and peaceful as its so vast. Plenty of waterfalls and places to sit relaxant enjoy the beautiful exotic surroundings. My daughter loves art and said if she lived in seville she would always be in this park listening to music sketching. There's little kiosks offering, crisps ice cream and drinks, be warned they're a bit pricey. The restaurant near the archaeological museum and art museum was an excellent food and drink wating stop in the shade with very reasonably priced food abd drinks. We took a 25 min carriage ride around the park and it was 👌 awesome.Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 7, 2024

For well over a century it has been a magnificent public park, enjoyed by all. As well as the bucolic and sylvan attractions, it is home to numerous monuments and sculptural tributes. One of the outstanding buildings here is the wonderful Museum of Arts and Traditions.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 20, 2024

We spent about an hour in the park and probably saw a third of it. Lots of nice places to sit and relax. Recommended.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 26, 2024
- Dawn S42 contributionsGorgeous park, free entry, lots of lovely areas and trees and very cleanWe visited the park and walked all round. Some beautiful areas, the pools and bridges, the bougainvillea covered walkways and the fantastic big trees (like the magic faraway tree!). It was peaceful and immaculately clean, and the scent from flowers and sounds of parrots flying around the treetops which made it extra special. Gardens here were much better than in the Real Alcazar and easy to spend half a day here and sit with a picnic before wandering on around Seville. It was comparable to National Trust gardens but no charge to enter so highly recommended.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 26, 2024
- Joy HBristol, United Kingdom74 contributionsA delight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!This park has so many different areas with masses of colour, lakes and even waterfalls and fountains. There are so many different themes. There is the traditional feeding of the ducks. Like so many places in Seville you can get lost for words in describing things and their beauty. My favourite sight here was of a mother duck walking across the bridge with a few baby ducklings walking behind. A special place to unwind and enjoyVisited April 2024Traveled with friendsWritten April 28, 2024

Grounds were left to the city of Seville by Maria Luisa, Duchess of Montpensier (hence the park name!) and was part of the Expo 29 setting around Plaza de Espana. Visited in January and to be honest everything was looking rather sparse and unkempt (although some of the formal areas were being replanted). A number of statues are dotted around but there’s no information as to who they are or what they relate to. Information board maps are tired and in need of replacement. Horse and carriage rides are available from the plaza.

Not everyone may realize but as dusk falls you can find two really exciting species in the park. Greater Noctule is the largest bat in Europe and confined to Southenr Spain. Scops Owl is more widespread but it only turns up in the UK as a vagrant

A nice calm afternoon without many other tourists here. The beautiful building pictures sets the stage for a gentle quiet park with a history you can go deep into. A good place to go if you have been to the Esplanade de Espanol as it is nearby and a lovely walk between the two.

After visiting Plaza d'Espana we wandered through the park towards Plaza America. Our hotel concierge had given us a map of the park showing the main points of interest which was very useful. We stopped at the cafe in Plaza America, waiter service, for a snack and to use the toilets before wondering back along a different route through the park. We especially liked the waterfall and the bird island and lake. This would be a very pleasant escape from the heat in the summer as there are lots of shady areas.

This is a lovely place to have a leisurely walk around with plenty of architecture to admire and well tended gardens. The cafe on the southern corner was nice to stop for a cold beer on what was a very hot day. Seeing the horses sweating in the heat wasn't nice and thankfully very few people were hiring them. Given the month of August is typically in the 40's they should be left at the paddock during this period as the Seville climate allows the vendors plenty of opportunity to trade for the rest of the year.

A nice quiet park centrally located in Sevilla next to the Plaza de Espana. Lots of trees and fountains. The only negative is that the park is surrounded by a tall black metal fence and closer to the Guadalquivir river there is NO way out except back towards Plaza de Espana OR through the restaurant on the far side. We wanted to get to the river and almost gave up until we came upon the restaurant. Was told it had to do with keeping a bad element out of the park at night ... but still ... was a bit ridiculous!

Hola. Me gustaría saber si podemos entrar con perro (atado) al parque de María Luisa. Gracias!!!
Written November 5, 2022
I’m afraid we don’t know. We didn’t see any dogs in the park, but I can’t be sure whether they’re allowed or not. Sorry.

Muchas gracias.

Are the fountains in the park always flowing? I will be there August 2018, and would love to take some amazing pictures.
Written May 3, 2018
I went on March, the fountains were flowing. I am confident in August they will be. Do not forget to go to Plaza de España and Becquer monument. You will have a lot of beautiful pictures. Sevilla is beautiful!!!
