Around 1350, the King Pedro I had in Candilejo Street a dispute with a member of an important family from Seville. It ended in the death of such a person. The murder was witnessed by an old lady, who, hearing the sounds of the dispute, saw the perpetrator of the murder's face under the light of a kitchen lamp.(From where the name of street - Street lamp street). When the relatives of the murdered man came to complain with the king, perhaps already knowing it was the king himself, the king promised to hang on that street the head of the murder. And he did so, sending into a closed box (so nobody could see the face), the head of one of his statues. The box stayed closed until the king died. To remember the event, there is still a bust of a medieval warrior (representing Pedro I) against the facade of one of the houses on the very tip of the street.
